Driving back from Winton today I could not believe the amount of idiots texting while driving (PP I replied to your text mate as I was a passenger at that point, was tired from drivng all day ). I had a trailer so you have momentum and we had to brake on several occassions. On 2 occassions I deleayed making a passing move only to be held up when the driver decided to text.

The worst was on the Balte Bridge (for those not in Melbourne it is a MAJOR high density arterial road) all of a sudden everyone starts braking heavily in the middle lane which heads SE. I managed to change lanes and when I caught the slow I car I saw this silly little cow was texting. This is what is dangerous, not going over the limit by 5kph. Serioulsy the Police need to nip this one in the butt.

 

totally agree Brettski, but will never happen, lazy coppers can get their numbers sitting on the side of the road nailing us for 10 clicks over the LCD speed limit

Here's my cure, EVERYONE has to go and re-sit there license, this time they have to drive around a racetrack, a time is set by Horse, you get 5 extra seconds to make it around the track (see my cunning plan here ?? ) , if not you hand your license in, then we can raise the speed limits but 50 kph on the open hwy ..... and won't the roads be nice and clear

 

They are now confiscating hoon drivers cars for 30 days in Victoria. I reckon they should do the same thing if you are caught texting while driving. That's just as dangerous if not more IMO.
