Try again. THats what I got via email and it worked Joel Finn Obituary - Bluffton, South Carolina - J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel
Joel's 250 TR book was a seminal undertaking for its time. Detailed the individual history of the cars, the races and the factory drivers. Met he and Ann at the 1979 FCA Annual Meet at Road America. Joel gave a presentation on the TR during the awards banquet. He showed his 250TR that year - was supposed to have Phil Hill with him but that was a no-show. Jeff
I'm very sorry to hear this. Coincidentally, I'm reading "Sunshine, Speed and a Surprise" right now, signed by Finn and lent to me by someone who plays a role in the book. R.I.P.
It was with the greatest sadness that I read of the passing of Joel E. Finn, racer, historian, consummate car guy and a true gentleman. My prayers, sympathy and sincerest condolences go out to Ann and family. One of the greatest car guys I have ever met.
This is so sad to hear. I've known Joel for over forty years. I met him in 1977 when he showed up in his old beat up 250 TR at an FCA meet at Chinetti Motors in Greenwich, CT where I used to work. We were focused on getting new cars like the new 308 out the door, so I din't have much of an appreciation for that old thing he was driving until he lit it up and left two black streaks and the pungent smell of Castor oil down Putnam Avenue as he left for home. Over the years, I got to know Joel well. He was one of a kind, to put it nicely. His encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the sporting automobile was encyclopedic. His taste in cars was impeccable. I bought a lot of cars from Joel and enjoyed his company. My condolences to Anne and his family, he will be missed. Travel well, my friend.
