Hi All I found it in Perugia, Italy. Very thrilled as only 24k miles, un-restored, lovely condition, only two owners before me, lots of history and clearly well maintained. A quick question - what are the Campagnolo wheels made of? Owners manual says 'light alloy', but looking for more specific answer eg are they magnesium? Thanks Piers Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations! It looks very good. Not sure about the wheels, sorry but doubt mag. Which dashboard do you have? There are three Citroen SM, Merak and Bora dashes. Best regards, Marc
It has the Merak dash, which was my preferred choice. I hope the wheels are not magnesium as I've had trouble before with it.
Looks great! More photos please Gabriel P.S. There is a thread in this forum dedicated to the Merak. It's called "I'd like to see some Meraks". You might consider posting some photos there too.
Campy used an alloy they referred to "Electron" or something similar. I have a pamphlet somewhere from the factory. They are not pure magnesium.
It's a magnesium alloy so when repairing with new paint the usual cautions apply. I've never had a problem with the ones on my Bora the are still original other than one that had a casting flaw and leaked but the others have been fine. The campys on my SII Espada were a complete mess by comparison. Very poor quality casting that required a lot special preparation and primer but an unbelievably gorgeous wheel nonetheless.
HA! This is how I will answer this question from now on... Oh and beautiful car, congrats, join our facebook Merak owners group
Thanks. The PO had the refurbished a few years ago and so far so good as they look perfect. I had a Fiat 850 Sports Coupe with Campag mags and they were a right PITA.
