There must be a huge difference in the driving experience between a Gr.4 and a stradale (especially given that you have a 24-valve engine)?

The big difference between Gr4 and stradale is the unibal suspension. All the rubber bushings are replaced with heim joints. Also running wider wheels on the back. The springs and shocks are stiffer as well. These changes really transform the handling of the car from twitchy to well planted and gives a much more confident ride. Not too difficult to retrofit the stradale. The stradale is no slouch but just remember not to let off the gas going through a fast corner or you can 360.

Is it way louder? Can you drive it (slowly) though your neighborhood without having everybody really upset at you?

It's not overly loud in my estimation. Certainly a Harley is more disturbing.

It does have a presence! I wonder if anybody has looked into it but the stratos must be one of the most successful Ferrari-engine race cars. It's odd that it hasn't gotten more crossover interest from Ferrari fans. It's certainly the case in the U.S. where most Ferrari collectors seem to be completely unaware of it...

"Bring that car out AGAIN to cars and coffee in Bergen county " <<< I've never been to the Bergen County C&C so you are probably confusing me with somebody else (Phil, maybe). Anyways, I finally got all the papers together to have it registered so when it's all done I can probably come to C&C in NJ.

Yes, the other car is an 037.

2 people near each other in US both have Stratos and 037s in the same colors?! Inconceivable.

So the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance this year is featuring Lancia. Be there.

We can make Radnor the best ever Lancia turnout in US. If you, Phil, Santos, RacerBoy, Irish, the Martini Delta GrA I codrive, the FINA Delta rallycar we imported, Mark Everett,....all brought something, could be HUGE! I sent in a nomination for my lowly Montecarlo today. If not accepted, would gladly help someone else transport a Lancia.

All 037 stradales are red so no coincidence there (plus mine in nicer!). Having said that, Phil is convinced I'm his automotive stalker and I think he's actually pretty thrilled to think that he has a stalker. In mine defense he has a number of other cars and those two are the only two we have in common (maybe my wallet is just not big enough)...

There was a blue one in NY years ago owned by the East Coast Lancia Club Guru Armand. Is your's his?

Also remember Racer Boys from Fiat FreakOut in Fontana NC/TN in the late 1990s.

No, I brought mine from Italy. It was originally sold in France and then in the early 90s moved to Italy. It's interesting that it was manufactured in Nov/Dec of 1974 but wasn't registered until 1976. They were slow sellers...

I looked at your profile and it seems that, unlike us fanboys who just talk about rally, you actually do it! You still active?

I codrove over 100 rallies in N America and a couple Pikes Peak hillclimbs. Was codriver for 4 different manufacturer teams in US and Canada. Drove a couple rallysprints and have a time attack lap record at local track for AWD turbo class in my recce car. Never had the budget to finance my own efforts and soon became more valuable as top codriver for drivers faster than I would be a ***** to be.

Last several years of competition I did not feel 100% and later was diagnosed w/ peripheral nerve damage. Experience lots of nerve pain, can't control my temperatures well (not good in Nomex suit and helmet in closed rallycar), more prone to motion sickness,...

Stopped competing except for occasional charity or historic rides where winning isn't everything, charity awareness or showing exceptional historic cars at speed is. Luckily I found a GrA Martini Delta local to me and have codriven it in hillclimbs which are short enough my body can cope short duration.

I still drive and codrive course opening (pacecars), give seminars and written a how-to-manual, and am starter for Mt Washington hillclimb the past several renditions.

Large part of how I got into rally and Lancias I have now where because of a Gr5 turbo Stratos Matchbox car I had as a child. I would have never been able to afford a real Stratos but bought a Scorpion out of college and owned 5 including Volumex supercharging one.
