Restoration threads are my favorite of all. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Joe. And thanks for sourcing the car for me and all the invaluable insight you have given me during the restoration process thus far. I might add that Joe's assistance goes well beyond facilitating the acquisition. He has been advising on the restoration every step of the way, gratis; simply because of his passion for the cars, his commitment to seeing the work done to exacting standards, and his nature to help. I can tell you I have bugged him on many small details and there has never been any apprehension to assist, whenever possible. So, thanks again.
Thanks Joey and Kaare - it is my pleasure. This is what this forum is all about: sharing experiences and insight, for the better good of the cars and the hobby. I will get more photos from Wade and his team along the way / asap.
If it is good as the Red One I purchased from you...then it will turn out FANTASTIC!! Congrats and enjoy the process I been thinking about picking up a S1 Early car that is being offered to me, never been offered to the public prior...maybe someone wants it other then me?? Let me know
Thanks Mark - trying to keep up with you Thanks Emilio - I'm sure I'll be reaching out to you for some parts along the way. I know that Wade already got the correct side markers with your help.
Is there a consensus on whether these were wrinkle paint? I think on the LP400 they were wrinkle and changed over slowly to where on the 5000S they were all smooth?
They look amazing, did they plate the required parts or just polish things up? Also do you send them the linkage and intake manifold or just the carbs? I have a set which is sitting here for my S2 and they need to go somewhere...was considering Mark's Automotive in FL, has anybody used him? I think it's a one man shop but that's all he does - Webers.
Thanks for sharing all this info with everybody, very informative, and exiting, are you going with the same color combo? Also looking at the exposed side sills with the Ac lines visible, i now understand why it took me 2days to replace the ac lines on my own car, keep the pictures and info coming, love it , personally i really like the Black/white combo,
Thanks. We are very happy with the work. Full rebuild and replating. Essentially like new. Yes, intake manifolds and carbs weres sent. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a good before shot. Quite a difference! It's like the old Topol smoker's tooth polish commercials. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, Nils. Hopefully others will learn as I have (and still very much learning) from other restorations illustrated in this forum. Absolutely going back to original nero / bianco color combo; it is one of the reasons I choose this car and project. The goal is to return it to Factory specs throughout.
