Thank **** everything is being kept nice and equal.

    Wait...

Now that Mercedes had played their little trick, why doesn't the FIA allow 1.2 liters for every single team then till end of season? It's a simple solution.

Just to clarify, this practice of adding blow-by oil to the fuel was first discovered by the FIA last season – on the Ferrari. I am sufficiently professionally involved in F1 to be certain of this.

What we're seeing now is Mercedes playing catch up within the tolerances permitted by the FIA, who want to (a) avoid dramatically disrupting a pretty good title fight and (b) sweep as much as possible of any controversy under the carpet (a cornerstone of their philosophy).

Allison pointed the finger at Ferrari for oil burning. Very simple. Ferrari.

It's my understanding that Mercedes has been doing it for some time, just have a very sofisticated system. Ferrari basically attached a 2nd oil tank, in respect a very basic system.

Allison knew of this and as soon as he got his little job at Mercedes, pointed the finger and cried wolf.

Irony: Mercedes can have oil burning in their engines but VW gets fined $10b if they do.

If Vettel loses Monza to Hamilton the WDC is over. The WCC was over months ago.

I'd actually say Singapore. If we can't win that it's game over. Monza we're very likely to lose.

    The engines aren't used sequentially.

Many things can happen between now and the end of the season.

It´s a bit silly that the engines built before one date can benefit from certain set of rules while others, supposedly identical and built by the same manufacturer after that date, can´t.

    Oh, well, it´s the FIA.

Against the spirit of the rule change. If it was anyone else, they wouldnt be allowed to do that. But its Merc and the FIA lets them do whatever the **** they want

That could well be, of course. What I do know is that the FIA nicked Ferrari first, and that happened in the first half of last season.

According to this article the FIA mislead/lied to Ferrari in Hungary that nobody would introduce an upgrade at Spa in order to avoid the tweak

"Ferrari, planning to introduce an upgraded specification engine in Monza and clearly concerned in case its rival should introduce a new spec in Spa (ie exactly what happened), responded in Hungary by asking the FIA why it didn’t introduce the new restriction immediately. Ferrari received the response that no one was planning a Spa upgrade and was thus becalmed. But then, upset – Mercedes did indeed turn up with a new engine at Spa."

    Pathetic...

The FIA can make this right by DQing Mercedes from Spa. It's a pretty simple solution. Mercedes did not follow the intent of the new rule, therefore they should be DQed. Next.

They cannot do that, come on Mercedes is the epitome of sportsmanship (rolls eyes, sarcasm font in full). "Imagine all the young kids watching Formula One today and see that kind of behaviour from a three-time F1 world champion. That says it all.” (LCH, more sarcasm font). Sorry if anyone trusted Mercedes to do the right thing, that is on them, Niki and Toto have always had an elusive relationship with the truth.
