Thank you, guys for the hint. OK, again with modified Foto: I've got cut my two folded keys today. Image Unavailable, Please Login
After mounting the registration plates today, I took a short ride, my first one in a Mondial ever. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe not, the Mondi fuel gauge is notoriously inaccurate below 3/4 tank. Mine swings from almost empty to 3/4 and back again in a 10 minute drive. I use the trip odometer as a backup just to be sure. Alden
The fuel gauge or maybe the fuel sender is defect. At that time the tank was quite empty, 3 Km later I filled in 77 Litres of gas. After that the gauge showed exactly the same (1/4). ... something more to be done.
Yes mine does the same. On full it will ride there for about 20 mikes then it reads empty the rest of the time.
Markus, I am sorry to hear that 2281GT hasn't yet been found and very sorry about the outcome with insurance. I've looked through this thread on the Mondial several times, but didn't connect it with you until now. I still believe the GTE will be found. After thinking about it quite a lot, I believe the thief may have been someone who knew both you and the car, perhaps for some considerable period of time. Not much help, I know. Can you at least get some income tax benefit for the unreimbursed loss? By the way, the Mondial and 208s are beautiful! EDIT: and the Dino! This thread has really made me appreciate these cars and made me realize that one doesn't need to spend millions to have an enviable and distinctive collection of really special cars!
Feels like a big lady compared to the Dino, doesn't it? They both drive absolutely fabulous. However, the feels Mondial more comfy. I have driven a Swiss Mondial this year, that is totally a different ride then ours and more pleasant for longer distances, but there is nothing wrong to drive this one through Europe I had the same issue with the fuel gauge and after 1500km it came slowly to life. I guess the floater was simply stuck over time when standing stil.. Fueling up several times and running through corners when it is half full has perhaps shaken it lose.
What is different with a swiss car ? Does it have catalysators ? Is it more comfortable because of another suspension ? I don't know the differences between a normal EU (italy) car and a swiss car, Sorry
Tap a few times with you fingers against that gauge....maybe it will react and show the right numbers...this is also good for all other gauges and speedo/tachi meter. Experience lol... Guido
Different suspension and transmission gears, besides the cat, which the Swiss models has, it is already a very different drive.
Another ride yesterday. Now I've done the first 250 Km in a Mondial ever and all I have to say is: GREAT car, comfortable, lively, handy. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you, Claude ! When I got the car, there was no document pouch, no tool kit, no jack bag , nothing. Last week I've got a complete Jack bag and a (quite) complete tool kit and today ... Today I've got the last missing item of the document pouch, the dealer directory of 1985 ! Because it is a very, very early car (the 8th ever produced 3.2 Coupè) it has the "temporary instructions", but is it additional to the "normal" instruction book or replaces it that ? I will ask that question in a special thread. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I know, I am obsessed and a little bit stupid, but ... Because my Mondial has the factory cassette console with the cassette dividers and the factory installed Blaupunkt Woodstock SQR 04, I was looking for original music-cassettes of 1985/1986 and found the following on eBay. Now booming contemporary music from the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's funny what a Ferrari does to people LOL. Well, in my case, I gave a lot of TLC to the leather of some Mondial seats today! I gave them a good massage with leather grease. OW LORD! Better than sex
The technology is there to track down the thief... If Google would help, they can tell you who made a "search" about 2281 GT. Not many people would make such a search on Google, but the thief would want to know what they have on their hands. Google can narrow down to the searches made in the vicinity of where you lost the car. If Google would release such information, the police can easily track down the thief.
Today the car valeting services picked up the car for a complete treatment ... That will take - at least - 3 Weeks. I await impatiently the result.
