Funny. The one with flames is the only one I still have. My grandkids probably drove it 500 miles in the parking area. The Gazelle kit car belonged to a retired WWII, Korea, Viet Nam Army pilot. He was about 75 and had the kit for about 20 years, but never put together. When I met him I told him I would put it together for/with him. It took us a couple years. When he died his two children gave it to me. Pretty special. He became a great mentor and a great friend. I miss him. He was part of the greatest generation for sure. Jerry
Sold the M5, Mondial, and a 550 not pictured. Bought a 456M GTA last month. I retired the first of the year and I needed to reduce my overhead and storage issues. Jerry
I don't know Jerry. I think that 250 GTE you said you were in for would look good in the garage next to the 550. Jeff
Very touching story on the Gazelle. The 'greatest generation' is a fact, and there are a few from that generation who I have had the opportunity to know -- they have my sincere respect. I like the thing with the flames.
A not-so-good picture from a not-so-good phone -- but the story behind it is pure Mondial bliss. We set out this afternoon with no intention other than going for a drive. Our only goal was to head generally northward, and to avoid busy roads. After a couple of hours of following this plan on roads we didn't know, and without the aid of maps or GPS, we ended up at the Quabbin Reservoir in Western Massachusetts. That's where the photo was taken. A perfect day, a good running Grand Touring car, twisty back roads and beautiful scenery. It doesn't get much better than this. Following a leisurely drive along equally unknown roads, we headed towards home -- arriving a couple of hours later. Just perfect. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Hank. To my eyes, the mondial coupé is faintly reminiscent of the 365 BB from that angle. Although the photo doesn't show it, you'd think you were in Switzerland driving around that lake -- just stunning. The car was blameless throughout Likewise, I hope you have a safe and happy holiday. Best, Charles
Just for backing in? Are there signs? Can I ask how much? I just got a parking ticket last week at the local beach.
