Hi All, not great quality, first is from May 1969 I was invited to do a lap before the first GP they tried to have in Vegas.... second is a photo from Art Center the day I spent there so they could take pictures, had to scan it also is not so good, it's from the book Ferrari The Sports and GT cars by Warren w Fitzgerald & Richard F Merritt. One thing from my earlier photos that I posted is the Bertone badge did not seem right to me from when I owned the car. check out the badge and then look at it when I had the car... it has been changed ??? anybody know why? still looking for more photos. see my post about about the bertone badge these pics have what I call the new one not the one on the car when I had it. also the bronze horse is not there on the driver side grill. Bill
Maybe I mis-understood, but didn't the Cavallino in front start out on the diver's side front grille? On the press photo's it is under the crease of the nose (the only detail of the car I never understood, together with the odd (Corvair?) tail-lights)
I am another ex drummer here with Bertone! Although I had to quit the band in order to buy a house with a garage then get my dream car! I have always loved that car and also the Nembo (?) spyder posted. http://www.cirithungol.chaos-lords.de/index_e.htm http://www.truemetal.org/cirithungol/nadsokor.htm http://www.sleazegrinder.com/SuicideNotesCirithUngol.htm http://nolifetilmetal.com/cirithungol.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I saw you open for Ratt many moons ago. Luckily my musical tastes have evolved. Also read all the Micael Morcock books. The idea of the eternal champion was cool.
Great thread! Here is Giorgetto Giugiaro standing next to the wooden buck. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice picture, hadn't seen it before. I guess those guys all had big warehouses, I mean, considering this buck was only used once...
Quite nice, overalls and a tie...definitely other times. Lovely car, way ahead of its time. I had the privilege of having it seen in person. Regards, Alberto
Such an interesting and developing thread. FChat never seizes to amaze me. Congrats on the car, Bill, and thanks to all for sharing the stories/pictures with us.
I, too, was in that parade lap in Las Vegas. Is it possible you have a photo of a silver blue Lusso with a damaged left front fender taken on that occasion?
Sorry, don't even know who gave me that one. I just found it in a desk drawer with some old passes I had from the 1977 GP monaco.
Thanks for the great photo, I have said the the badge that's now on the car is wrong.... and there is the proof ! That's the badge you will see in all my photos. so glad to know I'm crazy...lol
The picture in Michiel's post above is not from the 1962 Geneva Show, where the Bertone 250GT SWB was introduced. His picture is from the 1962 Turin Show, a few months later. I believe the badge that is now on the car is the correct, original style badge.
I could ask why would they change it and then change it back... but when I bought it... that was the color and that was the badge.
I finally found my pix of this car when I brokered it for Bill. The interior was original, and the paint was the job that Dean Jeffries did for Bill. Dean was (is?) a guy who built several odd vehicles for the movie industry. Enjoy! Thanks Ed, it's just gorgeous in burgundy. How lucky (is Bill) to have had that for a daily driver(?)! What was the state of the engine tune, compared to contemporary SWBs; mild, wild, or somewhere in between? Axle ratio?
