the car never had head rests from new. I have pix of the car in 1960/61 and it did not have any type headrest at that time either..

As Jeff says, best to read Jess Pourret's book for great detail.

In a nutshell "TdF" models developed with:-

    Chassis:
    508
    508B
    508C
    508D
    508G

    Engines:
    Tipo 128
    Tipo 128B
    Tipo 128C
    Tipo 128D
    Tipo 128DF

    What would a 508G be?

One must be very careful with the engine types. Engine block type does not necessarily match the specs built into that block. Many competition engine types were started by building into an earlier type of block and then defining what was needed for the future. Has created a few awkward moments when trying to figure out what the installed engine really is...

Especially I would add engine tipo 128B/20, a modified 128B for competition use. Most 14-louver cars used this engine (block) type.

As far as I know the only modification between a "normal" and a "comp" engine is the camshaft. The "normal" one is the tipo 128 and the "comp" one the tipo 130 with a higher lift and different timing.

There are numerous variations, the 250-engine went though 10 years of evolution after all. I think the main difference between a 128B and a 128B/20 is a slinger seal on crank shaft vs. a stefa (=modern lip seal).

The car is fantastic. The Fini hotel a little less so!
I think the beds could qualify for a classiche certification.

Don't confuse Hotel Fini with the old Albergo Reale Fini which was also in another location in Modena. Two totally different places.

Here's a photo of the OLD Hotel Real Fini in the City of Modena, taken December 1971. Long gone, history.

Great picture Marcel. Now who can identify all the cars in the picture? I think the blue car on the left is a Fiat 128

Fiat 128 is right. Then Porsche 914, Lancia Flavia, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Ford Taunus and a Fiat 124 coupe.
