I first spotted a Pantera in Wakefield U.K. in 1975, and it was full of rust already, but the shape really got to me, I tried to buy a damaged one in 1980, but it never happened. Finally in 1995 I bought a very clean low mileage 1984 GTS in Johannesburg, South Africa, it needed some small thing attending to that I sorted out, but all the gripes written by road testers are not justified, they are a great car, go like hell, look good, simple to fix, I love them, I sold it in 2002, and have regretted it ever since, I have just bought a Ferrari 512bb and a Lambo LM002, but I would still like my Pantera back.
Of all the exotics and classics I've had, the Pantera is one that really ticks all the boxes. I just got back from a multi hour roadtrip and it was magnificent. It's also nice not having to spend much for maintenance. LS
This De Tomaso Pantera Wows SEMA Faithful I'm not sure Tom Tjaarda would be impressed with the design but the finish work is of course fantastic as are the performance specs.
Notice the type at the top of the windshield. Although they didn't get any ink in the article, the Ring Brothers (out of Oklahoma I believe) obviously had something to do with this car. They are a couple of street/resto-mod guys that do some really innovative and interesting work, and they have a itch for anything with Ford power.
The way it's all chopped up it reminds me of a Bricklin, but the interior is pure aftermarket Fiero. Engine looks nice. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jajajajajaja...that's funny. I gotta admit to liking nearly all the modded Pantera's I've seen, some are just beasts! Some more fancy to look at like this one.
Yep, you got it.. Also finally had time to read the article, they were mentioned just after the opening. Article was boring at best.. and upon closer look, there are definitely a number of elements I find distasteful about the car as well.
Too much peel and not enough appeal. Hey if it's not outrageous it's probably a failure at a SEMA show right? That interior is the worst part. The engine compartment is impressively crafted. I wonder what those cup thingys on the left are? Looking at the front again, this looks like a yellow Pontiak Aztek raped a black Ford GT from behind.
