Last summer I was buying NOS OZ front rims p/n 005112924. I thought I was buying OZ wheels but I got finally two Campagnolo wheels. The wheels seems to be made from Magnesium as their weight is only 6,5 Kg. I have compared them with an used Campagnolo rim I had already on stock and the weight was almost the same. If somebody is interested I would exchange for OZ rims in rebuildable condition. I have also one Campagnolo back rim I would like to exchange for an OZ wheel. Some more details of the rims. The white wheel is the used Campagnolo rim. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Detail of the door. We have removed all the factory filler before applying the base coat. The original factory finish is quite rough. They were using on many places a lot of filler. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Comparison between earlier DD crankshaft and the later 87 FI crankshaft. The upper crankshaft is from the DD. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The difference between the crankshafts is in the oil channel system. Note the groove on the later FI crankshaft. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Note the main bearing journals. On the FI crank some oil bores are blinded! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The later block has blinded oil bores on the 2, 4, and 6 main bearing journal. Why the factory was changing on the later QV engines the oil distribution to the main bearing journals? Where there problem with the earlier engines? Does anybody know what is behind this modification?
Dan. Once the car's are completed. Are they for sale / for clients. Are you keeping one for yourself? Rob
Rob, I never sold a classic car. it is also not my plan to sell them. Therefore 5000S, DD and FI. I am looking for a S1-S3 project. So the collection would be almost complete. Nobody knows how live turns out but of course I am dreaming also about a very early Countach.
With your skills Dani you could probably make your own from scratch. I am amazed as I have never seen anyone take a Countach down to the frame and do a ground up restoration, let alone three at a time. Respect, sincerely Vic
I was about to ask this earlier too! Are we aware of any other current or previous ground up restorations, down to the tube frame, like on this amazing job?
That is a lot of work - one question remains, Why did you laser scan the car? what are you planning on doing with the data?
They are not blinded but this are jets. I will post later the conclusion about the oil system modification. A picture into a DD block from the side of the crank would be highly appreciated.
Does anybody know to which version of the Countach this relayboard and fuseboxes are belonging? The wire harness was sold to me as a 85 carburettor version but this is definitively not correct. The rest of the harness seems to be from a 88 or later FI model. The seller took the unknown harness apart and sold me one half as a complete 83 5000S wiring harness and the second half as a complete 85 carburettor version. At the moment I try to solve this issue with the seller. At the moment I assume that this mistake happened unintentionally and he will take the harness back and refund me the $. Any input is highly appreciated. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I can only speak for the 1983 harness and it does not look like an OEM harness at all, rather a reworked upgraded version as it uses new type fuses as opposed to the typical European fuses used back in the day. Sincerely Vic
