This and the F40 are some damn good photoshopping. Upper, stretched F40 looks like a kit-car. Chopped Porto looks much lower, sleeker, dare I say more Corvette-like in a good way. Slimming down the distance from the top of the wheel-well to the horizontal hood or trunk surface may cut down on trunk/convertible top space but it makes just about any car sooooo much sleeker in profile.
There's about 5" of additional height added to the body in the upper pic. If you own an F40 and don't see that immediately then you don't spend enough time in your garage with a glass of wine staring at it... hopefully too busy out driving it
Portofino. WTF. Is Ferrari opening a restaurant chain? If they are, I hope they have the Ferrari toilets with the Ferrari toilet paper.
Having never even seen a California in the flesh i guess i am not really qualified to comment. Anyhow i quite like the look of it.i would imagine that 99.9% of drivers on the planet would be more than happy to own one, whether they could afford one is another matter though. Whats the est basic price on this one,$200k?
Perhaps front seat is positioned seat is fully forward... Looks like a generous amount of rear leg room in interior pic.
Yes i noticed that too...maybe thats why the steering wheel is flat at the bottom? So you can get your thighs underneath it when u push the driver seat forward, with someone in the back too? Still think its awesome though.
Oh damn, can you imagine the arguments some here would have over the seats Ferrari chose to spec for the toilets... Not to mention the debates over whether the flushing mechanisms should be automatic or stick (aka handles). I like the looks of the Portofino...just not as a Ferrari. Maybe the car will grow on me over time. I do, however, think it has a better chance of growing on me than the 812...
That high beltline on the California was down to the folding tin roof. I think it needs height to fit the roof in the rear. If they had dropped the beltline from the front of the trunk to front of the car it would have looked very awkward I think.
Fortunately not quite as much as this one - things have moved on since the '50s: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Although I think it looks good, it doesn't have the Ferrari look IMHO...ie doesn't look like a Ferrari
What car is that? Super cool! I recently saw a 50s hardtop convertible at a car show and the boot that held it was basically a small truck bed ha!
But staying on topic, Motor1 has side by side shots of the Cali and Portofino with a slider... very cool https://www.motor1.com/news/177836/ferrari-portofino-california-see-changes/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
The California - Portofino is better this generation, but they are still close to a corvette for my likes.... I've never been a fan of the Cali looks. they drive great, but the looks are still a bit off to my liking. its way too tall... and the rear end is a plain disappointment ... At least now the 3/4 view is much better and side view is much nicer.....
Pity they couldn't line them up better, but very useful all the same. Confirms my view that the Portofino is a distinct improvement on the Cali T, but I never was a fan of the latter anyway - I thought the previous model looked better.
I don't get the whole daily driver reasoning. The back seats are useless other than maybe for a set of clubs. A 458 or 488 can be a daily driver just as easy. The front boot holds plenty. It's a cake walk in town and in traffic. I put almost 4,000 miles on one including several 300+ mile trips and was as comfortable as can be.
It's less exotic looking and therefore less of a distraction for daily driving. But I agree that the 458/488 are really GT DD's and not true sports cars. A lot of attention is spent in making sure they are, even though very few actually do. Under 30 around town they are pretty "drama-less".
The 812 is pretty hideous. I have no idea what Ferrari was thinking. Its hard to believe this is the same company that gave us the 275GTB Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
