#29199, an early injection model (probably the first in Australia), manufactured in 1979, it looks like it still has its original colours of Grigio Argento with Nuvola (light blue) interior. Engine number *00065*. Was for sale by Ian Cummins in 2004 and was more recently on Carsales in 2011. Very nice colour combo.
Unfortunately very little - only the asking prices (AUD 59,900 in 2004 and AUD 34,000 in 2011), and a note of the mileage in 2011 of 10,900 km. The mileage is not correct, though could perhaps relate to the km travelled since the engine rebuild (currently stated as 11,726km). It was on VIC plates in 2011 and NSW earlier on. Edit - this is what the 2004 advert stated - 1979, Silver, Blue leather, Auto, air, power steer, CD stacker, handbook, $40,000 spent on motor and suspension rebuild, excellent condition. (AKF39J). AUS$59,900
Hi David, I'm going to buy this one. PPI revealed a few issues, but no deal killers. The vendor sent me some details, and the VIN matches what you said, but the engine no. they gave as "F101C011", which is the model no., so need to get the full number off them yet. When I looked up the number, it appears as a model number for a carby engine (alright, according to wiki, so not gospel). Any thoughts?
Great, congrats! No concerns with the engine number so far as that is the injected engine type - full number should be F101C011*00065*. If it was a carby, it would be F101C001*.. Lovely colour combo. Good luck with it. David
1980 Ferrari 400i | eBay Fair price! BTW I'd love to know someone who would do a bare metal respray on a rusted car for 6000€....
Stunning color combo, documented history, outstanding maintenance, beautiful condition and a decent price! Wow! Cannot get much better than that and whoever ends up with it ought to be a happy fella (or gal)? PS - don't recall any female participants in this forum?
True. It would be half the price if it did, and even more of a bargain. (Though why anybody would want a 400 with a non original engine is beyond me.)
If you have a point to make, mate - by all means make one... If you want to make things personal, I encourage you to do so.
I was being funny - tee hee. I think possibly Ewan was too, although he may not be aware of your thread. I have read it from start to finish, and it's one of the reasons I've been chasing a 400i - lots of fun.
Sorry Otto - just researched your thread as recommended by the 'Doc. Foot in mouth moment for me after a glass of claret too many! And while Enzo might be turning in his grave, if you want a V8 powered 400, you go for it. Life would be very dull if we all wanted the same. Expensive too, if we all chased the same item!
Sold for 52000 pounds But I am not sure that buyer's premium and VAT are included (which makes a real difference!)
They paid what it was worth,if it were better or worse, the outcome would have been different. The market is leveling off,the stupid Aussie asks have all but disappeared.
