Mine handles like a car with a 59/41 weight split...I have had the tail come around before but if you know what to do you can catch it and move on. There's a lot of grip back there so putting down the power can help catch it. It's been several years since I last set the toe in and camber, not sure where it is now but the car tracks straight. Where do you have the sway bar set to (on the center console), if you play with that you can get a lot of variation in handling, everything from really really soft (so at 120mph it feels like you are 'floating') to really hard/tight. If you have not explored changing that setting that might make a big difference. I usually have mine set to the middle setting. If you are all the way forward (really tight) then I can see the back end being really twitchy/eager to swap. Are those spring weights in kg or lbs? The biggest performance issue I have had on the SE30 is braking. I added (Steve G. did actually when he was at Burtoni's) air ducts to help cool the rear brakes (fronts already had air ducts) and I switched to DOT4 (Super Blue), no more brake fade/no more boiled fluid. -J

#28.... I bought this car earlier this year. I can't wait til we repaint it and get the dolphins off of there..... BUT we'll go through the mechanicals first.
John, We're just getting the set ups now. I'll keep you up to date, Greg and Steve are test driving tomorrow. The springs are in lbs and yes we've been expiermenting with the various settings on the roll bar. There's a lot more being done, I'll give you all the details when through. Steve, You have more restraint than me!! I'd be out there with my spray paint cans to get those damn dolphins off my car! Keith
Id rather drive it around in (fashionable) flat-black primer than current rolling Marine World Advert livery! LOL. Keith I am sure you have the one of the BEST SE 30s in the country, and Im glad all the things you are doing are mainly "under the skin" so to speak. Gorgeous original paint and a flawless original interior are an irreplaceable feature of your car and if preserved will make this one stand out amongst other now tired and 'molested' examples. It can still see PLENTY of use and yet be very nicely preserved (something I already know you ascribe to). Joe
John, BRAVO to you for being the leader in actual use of a Diablo SE30....does it make you the most experienced SE owner/driver out there? I think so... ;-) Joe
Joe, The only way you'll be able to tell my car is anything but bone stock, is it will be slightly louder than stock. Keith
I've considered the flat black primer thing !!!!! But then, who wants to put a bunch of rock chips and wear on nice primer when you can do it to misplaced mammals? I've got some quotes for a full strip and re-spray in it's original Viola Anniversario..... Can't wait.
Its ironic that if only Mr Larssen had confined his specialised artwork to canvasses and buildings, rather than resorting to automotive vandalism (!), we wouldnt be having this discussion. I remember seeing this very car #28 whilst on vacation in Hawaii parked outside as an advert to his art business, then saw it again at a dealership (still outside) a few years later, unwanted & unloved. Im sure its cosmetic & mechanical needs are substantial. So, its only good that you are "rescuing" this car and returning it to the way it should be. Bravo for that. Joe
Joe, is this Mr. Larssen the same person who killed a Ferrari Enzo on a public road in CA early summer this year?? He was sued afterwards as the ownership circumstances turned out to be unclear! Ciao! Walter
i have a BLK/BLK SE30 that is crazy fast Robert Ball had the car for 6 months and went nuts on it, its LOUD!!!!!, I didnt have the work done a friend did, I love it its slipery to drive but managable, i dont know the number, it needs a paint job it has about 19K KMS on it, i'm gonna drive it to 30K KMS ant then paint and restore it to 100% and put it in my permant collection(it will still be driven some but not hammered). Its by far the funest Diablo I have ever driven, Its more fun than the GTR's because its not as much work and has A/C and is almost as fast, Robert may have ruined the car in the eyes of a purist but I see no harm done, it runs like a dream, it hads been driven 6k KMS since the work was done so its been tested, in other words it didnt damage the car, as some after market mods do(which i'm not into -I like stock cars) I'll forgive John for the windows I did that to one of the GTR's- he gave me the Idea.
Yes, Im still TRYING to get over John's windows.....it will take years of theraphy though. LOL. Seriously, John has perhaps the best tested car, because he uses it! Bravo for that John. Joe
Lassen? I think youre speaking of Stefan Eriksson. "Unclear" is an interesting description of the ownership status of his cars, but, it works! Joe
I just had it checked its 12/150. One thing is for sure I aint selling this car. Come to think of it I never seem to sell the Lambos,
Eric, I know your car well and have talked to Rober Ball quite a bit. Really good guy. I actually almost bought it before James a ways back. You'll have to bring it out one of our drives. Steve, The question you have to ask, is what the hell was that boob thinking as the first bits of paint from his airbrush hit that car? Also remember, if you're pulling the motor for the big service, you might as well paint it then, it'll save cash and be a whole lot easier. Keith
I can attest that Lv eric's se is a nice car. Very loud and eye appealing. Eric, you think mine is also a bit loud too? go mifune, I cant wait to see your car when it is done. Yes the dolphins in this case should not be saved. Perhaps if lassen painted bulls, it would be more appropriate? Why dolphins? To this day, I still dont get the connection. Aparently, he did a murcie Roy sold him. California se30 gathering. When is that going to happen? A bit anxious already....
Wow - who knows...... Unfortunately, I do have to say - the artwork IS fantastic. As for painting at the same time the motor is pulled - I would actually rather have the motor go out AND in, then put "development miles" on her, THEN do the paint. Having the engine in and out is not as traumatic as it is to a Countach, but with aircraft and cars I have found fresh paint before major work just results in lots of unavoidable scratches and blemishes to...., well, fresh paint.
