The airboxes have been powder coated and the new graphics applied. I plan to fit them this weekend. I know of only three Silhouettes with these graphics though I have seen a pic of a P300 with them. They are 40000, 40006 and 40008. Does anybody know of any others? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mystery solved I think...this sticker is on a very original Countach just offered for sale by Roy Cats. Image Unavailable, Please Login
On 5th May I took 40006 to Brooklands Auto Italia. A good Lamborghini turnout and some interesting machinery on display. Here is review with some pics .... http://www.classicandperformancecar.com/news/eventnews/283177/report_italian_car_day_brooklands.html
That is the Swiss number that I recognise. However it is possible there may be extra digits since the rear plate is too long for the space between the lamps and so is bent outwards at each end which obscures the right hand end in the photo I have seen !
Maybe, the one with the bent plate is from his Homepage, this picture could have been taken at the same moment just from a different angle.
Quite a few Silhouettes appeared in movies, this is the First one. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_451473-Lamborghini-Silhouette-1976.html A Copper/Marron car in the 1979 Movie Bloodline. This car must be #40066 as it was the only one delivered in this color.
http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_496233-Lamborghini-Silhouette-1976.html A red car with senape interior and Milan registration plates. This is probably #40058 which later became the Jalpa prototype.
http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_507922-Lamborghini-Silhouette-1976.html A blue car with US blinkers and a red Miura next to it. I see two possibilities #40070 or #40072. 3 different cars out of 54 produced which appeared in a period movie, not bad!
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=141010274&postcount=375 The situation is still the same; 7 Silhouettes recently reported as in US + another 5 which are probably still in US but without confirmation. #40076 is indeed the only Silhouette delivered to the US. The first owner for #40076 was Luigi "Coco" Chinetti, the son of the US Ferrari distributor. I believe that some of the cars delivered to SEA Roma went to the US in the late seventies.
I'm actually heading to Woodbridge, Ontario (near Toronto) on Saturday for an Italian car show. I am not getting my hopes up, but it sure would be amazing to see one in person. Chris
There were more than 60 F40s at Silverstone Classic this year - more than the total production of the Silhouette. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I cannot take any credit for this pic but I now realise that I should have acknowledged the artistry of the photographer who amongst other things (perhaps best not mentioned here) is a Miura SV owner!
