Hugh,I bet there are some wonderful stories behind some of the lots. I reckon there are some great business opportunities ...take those various E Types at 10 - 15 K Euros. The Jag . restorers could have a field day with some of those, also the 2 Healeys look interesting. The 911s/996s look all OK,and should find a market place within Europe,Porsche seem to be on a roll at the moment. As mentioned, fascinating auction.

sorry to drift off message.....was this not the Company who had their armoured transport hijacked by Mr Bridger, and his team in 'The Italian Job' ? If so,The decision to lend a company who attracted considerable interest from both the British criminal elite, and the Mafia, could be seen, with hindsight,as a highly irresponsible lending policy !!

I'm from Milan and I'll be there all the three days. I heard over here that most of the cars miss the owner's manual and on-board documentation like e service book, especially for the newer ones it colud be a problem. Apparently the guy has them at home...

Excuse my ignorance but how is the IVA handled when the buyer is a non-EU resident? Does it get charged and must be claimed back later, or is it exempt?

I've decided to go. I bought my plane tickets last night. Will post pics.

What is IVA? Is that an autocorrect for VAT? Only a few cars will be charged VAT. The car I'm looking at has no VAT. Consumer products can be reimbursed at the airport but I'm not sure about cars.

VAT/IVA/TVA...is value added tax within Europe. In Italy it is 22%. Most of the lots will have this added to the commission,so say, sells 100K,+12%=112,plus 2640 VAT,so buyer pays 114640 gross. More dangerous are the few vehicles that are shown in the Lots as attracting 22% on the sale....say sells 100K,plus com 12%=112,plus VAT on that @22% is a whopping 26880. Great news for the Italian revenue, but not for anyone else.!

Yes Andrew,I noted that there were a few vehicles attracting the full VAT. Received my 'newspaper' today from RMS,seventy pages, lots in numerical order, some of the major lots with full history, others just a picture. It seems that preregistering to bid is vital...and complicated. With the info required,I can not see how it is possible to just turn up., Anyway,a group of my friends are going,so I have advised them to read the pages of conditions.

Wow! I think the Aalholm sale in Denmark had 900+ registered bidders, and people had to stand in line for two hours or so and the auction started late.

    Anyways I am one. :)

I'm going to check out the car I want and then do a written or online bid. No need to get tied up in all the excitement. If I don't get it at my price I'll wait for the next one.

Be sure you photocopy everything you send in because things often get lost.

I am shocked, yes shocked, to see there are 50 Ferraris, Masers by the score, and not a single Fiat Multipla....

Does anyone know if this will be webcast?? I can't see any information on the website.
Not sure I want to do the whole 9-10 hours, but I fancy dipping in and out for some of the lots.

Best of luck to all bidders!!!

    Mark.

It looks like according to their Twitter account that there will not be a live stream, just updates - https://twitter.com/rmsothebys/status/801763884457725952 . Cheers.

For those who are going, it looks like I 100% can't make it.

There's a 250 SWB replica body being sold - just curious if anyone can grab the name of the manufacturer, take some pics, see if the quality is any good.

    Thanks :)

Hi I looked at the SWB body today with a highly reputable UK classic Ferrari specialist. They weren't very impressed with it, had the steering column and other key bits in the wrong place and a lot of filler in the body. They did say that the LWB Spider was better, the body was bare aluminium, which meant no bog in the bodywork. It was on a 365 chassis, which had IRS. They thought you would almost have to get the SWB for nothing to make it worthwhile but even then why bother as so much was wrong with it. Easier to start from scratch.
