I thought that might make you happy.

You can use it to photograph E-Types!

I will. Does anyone know a nice guy who has one and would like some photos taken?

Funny thing is I really like the 6, but it still pisses me off every time I get into the car / aircraft and have to take it out of my pocket and put it on the passengers seat or somewhere else.
If I could solve that problem I'd keep the damn thing.

    Why did you buy it?

Personally I hate having to re-learn new systems all the time, when something was working perfectly fine anyway.

eg. I wish I'd never upgraded to Windows 10 on my laptop. :(

    It was a gift.

Windows 10 is awesome....and I don't know if maybe you're a bit dumb (lots of indications that you are) but I can go from win7 to win8 to win10 seamlessly....the functionality is so familiar that i don't have any issue about having the 'relearn' anything

All the MACminis I play with have Windoze 10 on them ..... they work well most of the time, so long as you have 8gB in them :)

A while back, a lot of people liked to say that the best Windows computer in the world was a MacBook. They were wrong, but Macs are indisputably very well built machines (until you have to fix something).

Apple's Windows drivers tend to be suspiciously not-awesome, though.

There's a lot going on behind the scenes that isn't necessarily perfectly fine with old software versions, but still, mostly that wouldn't require UI changes. I've never really understood the "relearn everything" comments though - things look slightly different, but the same concepts exist and the same actions still largely produce the same results, don't they?

Apple offer Windows for the simple reason that MS are the dominant desktop provider, not by any means the best.

Macs work best with OSX, I have nothing but sympathy for people who are obliged to use Windows on them.

Maybe you can teach me how to use it when I see you next. I use keyboard shortcuts all the time on windows, and the ones on the mac are nutty.

you do realise that Mac had keyboard shortcuts first and MS copied them?

Timeline of Computer History: Computers | Computer History Museum

There have been a lot of great companies before that Apple crap turned up for the infidels, this link gives a very brief overview but interesting all the same.

It jogged my memory at quite a few points in history which I got to see first hand .... there were some very brilliant people along the way, particularly a Kiwi by the name of KC Jones who wrote a LOT of the WANG code which was light years ahead of the toys people play with today. He use to touch type in HEX in virtual memory on a live machine when testing new operating systems .... I use to call him part of the "Fringe Crowd" as he was not really of this planet :)

Oh great, fchat's two resident geriatrics handing out history lessons

Wang - a 2nd rate DEC competitor with software written in BASIC. WTF is "light years ahead" about that?

They were so good, they went broke in the early 90's.

WANG were valued above DEC when they became insolvent in '89 due to stupid decisions to produce many new products for the broker market just as it crashed.

I worked for WANG and DEC , DEC was a better company to work for as they looked after their staff and customers and they had over 2 billion in the bank when they were sold to COMPAQ in a dodgy deal.

WANG were 6-700M in the hole until the doctor approached the banks to rescue his baby but it could never survive after the market crash.
