Hi, You are more than welcome to join us at any time. Michael Ulrich from the E12 site (BMW E12 5 SERIES 1972-1985) did the same and after visting Tehran, travelled in a convoy of E12's to Isfahan and Shiraz. What makes one appreciate these guys and their cars are the great lenghths they go to preserve their cars, despite all the odds. Let me know if you are ever in our neck of the woods. Best Wishes and Happy Holidays, Ramin
Thanks for the thumbs up. I hope you continue enjoying the posts in this thread. You mentioned that memories from 1970's Iran are rekindled. What I find fascinating is that if you look in the photo's, a lot of the owners are actually younger than their cars and were born after the revolution. Best Wishes and Happy Holidays. Ramin
Hi, As an equal opportunity car enthusiast, after posting the BMW club pics, I thought it would only be fair to post pcitures of a Mercedes Benz Club of Iran track day. This club is the only officially factory recognized club in Iran and puts togther some pretty good events from time to time, including dispatching a team for the 125 year anniversay of Mercedes in Berlin (you can see some pictures of the cars that made the journey in earlier posts). First picture is the drivers meeting and going over the rules. Hope you enjoy, Ramin Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, The track day safety car. This 280S is owned by Club President Adrian Machayekhy and is in pristine condition. He used it to drive 14,000 km round trip from Tehran to Berlin and back for the 125 year Mercedes Benz anniversary in Berlin. Regards, Ramin Image Unavailable, Please Login

Ramin, do you have access to YouTube over there? It would be great to see some videos of your events! Dan
Hi, I wish I could post them on You Tube, but its not really possible to do so from my neck of the woods. Hopefully, that will change some day. Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season and a great 2014. Best Regards, Ramin
Hi, Is it me or does the safety car seem to be getting carried away ? Regards, Ramin Image Unavailable, Please Login

Here some classic pictures, recognize the original 131 abarth rallye ? Pictured with my father near Chalus (Caspian sea) some 35 years ago. He also had a Dino 246 (is the car still in Iran ?) and many many many other cars. Last picture is from a crash in his Corvette (note the Jensen Interceptor in the background belonging to his friend) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, Awesome, awesome pictures. I am almost positive that the 131 Abarth is one in the same as the one which belongs to one of our members. I have posted pictures sporadically, in this thread of the car. The car is currently undergoing a complete restoration. I remember seeing one with Alitalia livery in a car dealer in 'pich shemiran' in 1980, about a year after the revolution. I never saw the car again. I have yet to see a Dino, though I know several were spirited out of Iran after they were sold off after expropriation and sale in government auctions (as was the Miura SV and Miura SVJ, not to mention numerous other cars - sigh). Do you have more pictures to post ? If yes, please do. I am also sending you a PM. Ghorbanet, Ramin
Hi, By the way, just wondering how the Jensen and the Corvette ended up in that predicament (though I can guess). Ghorbanet, Ramin
It's been a while I haven't discussed these episodes from the past with my father. I'll ask for more stories when I'll see him. I've got many other pictures, on several different computers though. I'll post them regularly, stay tuned.
