Has anyone found a replacement coil with module for the Testarossa, or even a supplier other than the FPimp for the genuine Magnetti Marelli coils?

    Thanks Steve,

How much is that XM631 to purchase from WAI? I can't see a price anywhere.

Ever seen a coil cross reference for a Testarossa. I wouldn't mind fitting a new pair of coils and modules, then I can walk away from that aspect and not have to worry about it for years to come.

Clicked over 20 000 kms yesterday in three years of ownership. Love it!!

It's like the Baldwin oil filters -- WAI-Wetherill doesn't sell retail direct. You have to find someone who sells Transpo parts retail. Just try an internet search on "Transpo XM631" or check the www.wai-wetherill.com website, and see if they recommend a retailer (in your hemisphere ;)). In the link that Jay posted earlier (that unfortunately doesn't work anymore), it was ~$16, but even ~$30 would be an excellent price IMO.

No, I haven't ever come across a non-F source for the TR coil, nor can't recall anyone else posting that they had.

Hi, thank you for the information! I have just ordered two "last" in stock XM631 modules ($30.59 each) from this site (Motorcityreman) to replace a faulty module and a coil on 7-12 bank of cyllinders.

Of note, I think I have found a replacement coil for $54 (!!!), which looks exactly like the original Magneti Marelli AEI600G coil (12V and the exact same 4-pin electronic outlet and female-style current outlet). The replacement coil can be custom-ordered through Autozone. Once I receive this coil and test it on my car, I will let everybody know the manufacturer, model, and exact specifications.

I have found a cross reference for a Marelli ignition coil (BAE506D) for Ferrari Testarossa.
The same type of coil is used in Jaguar XJS with Marelli Ignition (not Lucas) and it can be ordered through many different vendors (price varies from $32 on the web to $130 at O'Reillys Autoparts; through Autozone - $55). Although, the coil is BAE504 - it looks and functions the same !!! I have purchased several coils from different manufacturers and testaed them - ALL WORK WELL on my car. I have changed both R and L coils and put new XM631 ignition modules (Transpo; I found the source for $18.80 each and will purchase about 20 of those).
Now the car runs great ! I have taken it to the track yesterday and on a straight line reved up to 7,500 rpm with no problems!

Here are the coil part numbers from different manufacturers and distributors:
    various sources # DAC4608
    AC Delco # E508C
    Prenco # F3000-121922
    WAI # W0133-1601868
    NAPA autoparts # IC149
Autozone # C1202 (this one indicates that the coil was made in Italy)

On pictures below - coils with silver metallic braket is made in Italy, while with the yelow metallic color are made in China.

    Hello,
I am planning to replace (upgrade) old tubing and lines on my Testarossa 1990 (late US CAT) to modern reinforced high pressure, high temperatire silicone and steel-baided hoses and lines. Does anoybody have a list of hoses, tubes and lines (fuel, oil, water)? There are no specifications for diameters and length of tubes and hoses inthe Parts Manual.
Where can I find this information about diameters and length (other than taking each tube or line off the motor and measuring it to produce a replacement)?
    Please advise.
    Cheers.

For those of you looking for the correct 'K' Relay, Bosch 0 332 015 006, I just got one from Partsgeek.com for 10.75. It's listed for a 1998 SAAB 9000, A/C Climate Control, Compressor, Cooling fan

Well done with the relay, Spasso! I had purchased this relay (new Bosch # 0 332 015 011, old Bosch # 0332 015 006) from http://www.importeccatalog.com/searchitem.epc for $10.46. There you can also find other relays (the 0332204101 and 0332014113).

After a long and tedious manual cross-referencing of BOSCH relays used in Ferrari Testarossa and 328, with TYCO relays I have developed a cross-reference table based on the mode of operation and current characteristics of each realy. The table is attached to this message in a PDF file. It also describes the schematics of each type of relay. I hope that this will be helpfull.

Thank you for the comprehensive cross reference. I am currently using a FIAMM relay of unknown P/N that I found in my tool box until the correct one comes in. 12v 30A is all that counts. Beats paying 200.00 for the same one in the yellow box.

Just a thought... the BOSCH 0332015006 is a quite specific relay - it has a double switch (the U0/1 Form U). Each line inside the relay can carry up to 15 Amps. That is why it is marked as 2x15A. Typically, the relay connector is wired so that both wires going to the middle and top parallel contacts (87a and 87) will deliver the current to the realy (15A each) and this current will be going through the both of the contacts when the relay is "ON". Now, imaging what will happen if the relay is either just a one contact switch (A0/1 Form A) or a "change-over" contact switch (CO/1 Form C) - in such case, only a 15A current will normally go through that top "horizontal" contact 87, which could potentially damage your fuse box wiring (as 30A will have to be drawn through the single wire).
I hope that this will not happen.

Based on my research, it appears that this is a 12V 30A relay with configuration Do/1 Form A (2x87).

    Cross-refference numbers are as follows:
    Bosch: 0 332 014 113
    0 332 014 140
    0 332 014 151
    0 332 019 151
    Tyco: V23234-C0001-X006 (12V, 40A)
    V23134-A0052-C642 (12V, 40A)
    Lucas: SRB528
    Marelli: 23220010001

Thanks. The strange part is that the 0 332 014 113 relay was used many places in most prior F models for things needing the Do/1 Form A (2x87) configuration. There must be something (probably minor) in the "specs" that made F go to the 0 332 014 140 relay -- I guess we'll probably never know why ;)

I agree with you... Although I am not an electrical engineer, it does not make any sense to use this relay type as opposed to a 4-pronged maxi relay (AO/1 Form A type) and one thicker electrical wire instead of two thiner ones for DO/1 Form A type (2x87) type relay.

    I am upgrading my Testarossa 1990 relays and had ordered yesterday 12 Tyco V23234-C0001-X006 relays (12V, 40A) and 8 Tyco V23234-A0001-X037 (12V, 20/40A) for less than $5 each (!!!).

Also, I have found a replacement for the infamous "big K" relay Bosch 0 332 015 006, which is new Bosch 0 332 015 011, which is also known as W0133-1791846 and can be found in many online automotive stores ($10-11 each); Tyco V23134-M0052-C642 (12V 2x25A), which is had to find anywhere (?!); which can be substituted by Lucas SRB521 or APA/URO part W0133-1638592 ($6.75 each !).

Hopefully, this info will be helpfull in the future to all FerrariChat members.

By the way, do you know if anybody has suceeded in producing a modern-type multi-layered cirquit boards for Ferrari Testarossa Fuse/Relay Box? There was some discussion on this topic a cople of years ago, but I could not find anything that materialized from those efforts... It would be nice to have those pesky boards finally upgraded.

AFAIK, no one has done so (but the real problem is heat generated at the poor connectors damaging the connectors or the PWB -- not the PWB design itself). The only "commercially-available" improvement that I'm aware of is Scuderia Rampante's (Dave Helms') modification where he adds a separate module of fuses and relays+wiring to replace/bypass the known troublesome connections -- you can see an example of the modification in this post:

Yes, I have seen this thread... Pictures look nice, but, honestly I was expecting to see a different solution - mybe different types of terminals and contacts on the board itself(larger spades would tolerate more current without overheating). Maybe the whole relay box should be developed from scratch... If I 'd only had more time to do this...

BTW, would you happen to have a list of hoses and tubes with diamteres and length data for Testarossa engine? I would like to upgrade those too. Las week on a track, mine blew a small connecting water hose (under the RH plenum 1 or 7/8" diameter, about 3" long). This was a "wakeup call", because I had to find a suitable tube and replace it in order to drive home... There are good quality high temperature kevlar reinforced silicone tubing and hoses now available. I would not mind developing an "upgrade" kit if I had measurements data.
