So. Started working in the 456. Drivers side headlight motor. Had an intermittent problem where you would have to hit the headlight to make it pop up. Removed the motor assy. and found a faulty earth brush connection internally. Repaired that by modifying and bypassing internal circuit breaker and running external earth. A bit of a pain in the arse to strip and reassemble the motor as they use the old split crimp method to secure the motor assy to the gearbox. BUT, with my superior skill I managed to do it. 😄

Today it was remove the spoiler, and replace the bearings on the actuator shaft. I've painted it while it's out. It'll all go back in tomorrow.

Removed the centre resonator and made up and fitted X pipes. Sounds a bit throatier.

Also adjusted and freed up the handbrake. Removed and straightened up the wheel. AND for a bodgy, the engine mounts are ****ed, but I can't get them done for a couple of weeks. SO instead of putting up with the harshness of the engine sitting on the steering rack, I lowered the rack a couple of mm. Dodgy I know, but it's short term.

That'll bugger the bump steer, but safe enough for pootling around. Looks like you're having a ball sorting all this out!

I used spacers under the engine mounts which is what the latter 575 mount use a version off.

Make sure you have adequate clearance between the A/R bar and the filters - the bar can flex around a bit.

Once upon a time engine mounts were a RWC item...

Going to replace the mounts when the belts are done. Marc says he has tried spacers and there were some issues with some piping at the top of the engine.

So. After stripping the passenger door to adjust the window reg, as I had been advised, 'that's all that's needed!' I found the inherent problems with the windows. As some threads on here have identified, the alloy pin in the scissor assy is worn and causes movement. BUT, that is not the only issue, and I believe i have isolated the origins cause of the wear. Unfortunately the guys we use for our window reg rebuilding can't do the job. So it's off to Florida in the good old USA for F1 Imports to do for me. A bit expensive, but it will be sorted and once I remount the regs correctly and replace the worn window runners, they will be like brand new.
