Very similar Ferrari 400i / Dorino / Gotech MFI set-up on another Bailey P4.

Car was driven by local South African racecar legend Sarel van der Merwe, at Zwartkops last year.

Nah. Optical illusion. ;) Just depends on the angle you look at it from. :D

As the car appeared, in a feature article and on the cover of the November 2006 issue of Classic Car Africa ....

Sorry, Jacques, but I'm going to have to correct you on that one. ;)

Apart from the modified 400i V-12 powered cars, the only non-Ferrari powered P4 replica that Peter Bailey has built is powered by ....

    .... a BMW 750iL V-12.

The car first appeared at Zwartkops in February 2006, using the stock BMW Bosch Motronic M1.2 injection ....
But, by the time the car was shown at the Castrol Extreme show, 2 months later, it had the custom Dorino / Gotech MFI set-up fitted.

This is Mike Nel's BP Green Bailey P4 replica, which wears David Piper's '67 Kyalami 9 Hours livery ....

In fact, Mike Nel's Bailey P4 replica raced most of the 2007 season carrying race #31.

I've got literally dozens of high-res photos of this car, but they all need re-sizing for posting. :(

Here's a few 800x600's of Mike Nel's Bailey P4 from Killarney 2007 that I found elsewhere on the 'Net. Can't remember where now.

Wow P4Replica you are very, very well informed....more well informed than me it seems....I do have a picture of the car racing at Killarney...

Correct the red one is owned by Ferdi, know him well and the car took some time to build....and yes I was incorrect so far only BMW V12's have been used...

Yes - the photo they used for the 2008 event poster - of Max's P4, was taken at Killarney, but way back in 2002.

I presume you've seen this video of Max on YouTube, from Killarney, 2004: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmpVRzCnw1k

He was back there again with his P4 replica in 2005 (still Lamborghini V-12 powered).
It's missed the last couple of Springbok revival meetings. Been getting an engine upgrade ....

.... from the Lamborghini V-12, to a 3.5Litre ex-Ferrari F1 V-12. Just wasn't quite finished in time for this years races, unfortunately. :(

Max has always done rather well at Killarney, came very close to winning a race last time he was here...though that Lambo V12 didnt seem to like the African heat....

Ferrari f1 V12...thats sure to sound amazing.....its also amazing that when he does bring his car to South Africa most people thought it was a real p4....I have to say to me its an excellent replica..

Thanks, Tarek. :) I did just notice a slight mistake I made back in my post #9:
The which car featured in the Classic Cars Africa article is not the same (400i V-12) powered car ....
    .... which 'J.Salmon' criticised for having un-evenly matched front winglets - i.e. Ferdi's Bailey P4 replica ....
.... but actually the other red Ferrari 400i-powered Bailey P4, shown in the two photos in my post #8 !!
When the car was photographed for that article, it still had the full-height doors and a roof - cut down and removed soon after.
What also confused me , only temporarily ;), is that they'd also reduced and rounded off the front winglets on that car, too !

Small photo below (Zwartkops 2007), Sarel Van Der Merwe driving, courtesey www.motorpics.co.za and copyright Danie van Jaarsveld ©.

The other small photo, below, lifted from Peter Bailey's website shows exactly the same car, without any front winglets fitted at all ! :D

Not to dis any one but Bob Norwoods P4's look to be way better built. Welds, detail fit and panel fit on these cars not so good.

You shouldn't really be comparing the Bailey P4's with Norwood P4's. They are a fraction of the price - even as a 'turn-key' with a Ferrari V-12 fitted. ;) .... In kit form (without motor), you could probably buy a Bailey-Edwards P4 for a tenth of the price of a Norwood P4.
Not wishing to make any excuses for them, but the Bailey P4's have fiberglass bodywork. The two cars in most of the photos in previous posts are track-only cars. Most of their bodywork is held on by quick-release Dzus fasteners. Plus it is damned hot in South Africa at this time of year. Fiberglass can warp in direct hot sunlight, and door panels are particularly vulnerable to this. Fairly easy to adjust, though.

You mean the Norwood car is better suited for road use than the Bailey's one? And the Norwood's is much well finished?

OK, but when you have a Norwood and a Bailey's P4 replica, side by side, which is more realistic?

I think to be realistic cost of each of the respective cars needs to be taken into account, from what I read the Norwood cars are much more expensive. Also remember that in the scene ofthings this Baily Edwards cars are cheap to a foreign buyer, the $= Rand exchange rate being what it is.

Gentlemen. If you insist on drawing comparisons between offerings, then might I suggest comparing pricing of the Bailey-Edwards P4:

    http://www.baileyedwardscars.co.za/PARTS_GT40.HTML

with the U.S.-produced Race Car Replicas RCR P4:
