Morning, everything is progressing well, but we are probably a month behind schedule now. The delay has been getting the engine parts back from the machine shop. The crank took double the time expected and the heads have only just arrived back. The con rods, pistons, flywheel and clutch assembly have be sent off to be balanced - this will be done by next week. We can then start to rebuild the engine.

The engine bay is ready to receive the fresh V12...........

Revival still a possibility or has the delay done for that ? I was hoping to see the car if you were in Car Park B.

I took the time to read this entire thread after just recently discovering it. I would just like to say that you, Sir, are the absolute epitome of a "Class Act". Any additional accolades would be mere understatements. Thank you for taking the time and effort to author this thread.

Mark, in a project like this if you're a month behind schedule you're actually still 5 months ahead of schedule! :D

The work looks amazing, fantastic job and thanks for sharing.

I second that. Peerless no nonsense execution of the highest order.

If one's going to do it then one may as well do it right.

I hope the authors machine is for sale when he's dead. To dispose of this masterpiece prior to then would simply be a crime.

Hi Darren, there is a very small chance we could make the Revival, if absolutely everything goes to plan and there are no problems - what are the chances of that!!!
I would much rather take 1 or 2 months longer and get the car finished to perfection - then i can really start to enjoy it.

You are in London, feel fee to come down the garage any time and see the car and the workshop - just let me know.

Joe is still planning to have an open day, so all the local guys from FerrariChat can come down and see the car and the facilities - new engine dyno room etc. He will put on a car clinic the same day. I will post the date when he is ready to host everyone.

If the Ferrari is not ready, I will take the Jaguar E Type to the Revival, probably more appropriate given it is one of the first cars in 1961 and the 50th anniversary this year.

    cheers Mark

    Hi, glad you are enjoying.

I have no intention of ever selling the 275! i know some people think it may be over restored, but that is my obsession for perfection. However this car is not going to be a trailer queen or a show car - it is going to be used as much and as often as possible.

My theory is: in about 10 years of continual use it will have built up a nice patina. Hopefully little Boris is a 4th generation McCracken Petrol head, and God willing when he inherits the Ferrari in many years to come it will have a beautiful vintage patina.

Given we now know the value and importance of these cars, a quality restoration like this should last a life time if continually maintained and cared for.

    cheers Mark

I am not 100% sure from your pictures, but it looks like the nose badge is not recessed.

If you go back to posts 459 and 460, you'll see that it is recessed.

I love these photo's of the shell only (well apart from the lights etc). It gives you more chance to appreciate the purity of the curves without distractions. It reminds me a bit of the Jaguar E-Type sculpture that was displayed at Goodwood's FoS this year.

    Hi
Is the car back being assembled at Kimber road .. . .? I am going in next week to see Joe as he has just completed my 330 America.
The car looks beautiful and would love to see it in the flesh.

Hi Mark, it's recessed correctly, just light or photo angle.

I thought you had been down the garage recently and saw the car? If not when are you coming down next?

Hi Tony - yes its there in the garage. Joe should be back from Italy, if not get Scottish Pete the mechanic to show you over the car, we keep it up on one of the ramps away from everyone!

Saw your 330 America the other night, it is looking absolutely fantastic - huge fan of your car, especially in that light blue color - very special! Good luck with it and i hope you enjoy it now its finished.

    cheers Mark

    Hi mark
I ll have a good look then next week, thank you. Joe is getting a great name on the vintage stuff, and rightly so , attention to detail and knowledge are second to none. I don t think he can quiet cope with requests for work on the vintage side.

Thanks for the comment on the car, that was the reason I bought for the colour.

    Cheers
    Tony

Stunning! The first pebble/rock chip is going to hurt but that's the price you pay to drive these machines and that is the right thing to do.....DRIVE them. Any pictures on the motor restoration/re-build?
