    Some people say that if you install the master link clip with the open end facing into the rotation, the clip is likely to fall off.

    Fact or fiction?

    "Likely", I don't think so but every master link I've ever installed on any chain has always been facing away from rotation. It would take a lot of inertia to unseat a good clip.
    With it installed facing away inertia is working for you and any chance encounter with a foreign object would also be less likely to dislodge it.
    Curious to hear if anyone has actually had a failure from this.
