The last group of "guests" with the P-45 were great. I saw a lot of them when I lived there, which made the connection even better.

All in all it did look a bit forced, though.

Guess the mechanics are a bit rusty after so long.

Can't wait for the Egypt one and the multipla for pensioners

Got caught up. Pretty good episode. :)

I have to disagree with Hammond though - I think the Zonda (weird as it is) looks much better than the Huayra. There's something about the very snub nose of the Huayra that just seems awkward. The active aero bits also look a bit strange when deployed - I'm sure they work wonders aerodynamically but they're not pleasing to the eye.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I think Huayra will get better with time, when they'll change the front and the key and I expected the flaps to be a bit more independent left to right.
The part with the dragons was a bit cringeworthy and the whole episode was good but at no point memorable as usual with the first. I bet the last will be fantastic.

Completely agree. I much prefer the Zonda (especially the F and up versions, with the 760RS top of the tree!) as it's a much rawer car. Harry Metcalfe put it perfectly; think of the Zonda as a GT3 version and the Huayra as a Turbo...

I couldn't believe how fast it is though.

The P45 part was utterly hilarious, especially the last bit ''sorry I can't understand what you're saying''...that had me in tears :D. (Q: ''Why are your sleeves wet?'' A: ''Because they've water on them...'')

Never was so bored in all my life.

Really puts into perspective how good Chris Harris, Jay Leno, Harry Metcalfe are.

Old jokes rehashed .......... The minute I saw Jeremy's car I knew he would be driving it in a building .....again. For about 30 minutes. 30 minutes during which you could watch some original comedy.

This isn't a show for enthusiasts. It formula TV for the masses. They are talented, but they are just churning it out. Total Mush.

At least on the iPlayer you can flick through and see if there is anything worth watching in it.

I thought that was rubbish. The only bit was funny was Evan Davies voiceover from the real dragons den saying "Jeremy has suggested getting children to work in his factory". Was unexpected and deadpan and the panel reaction was still there.

I mean how many times has Jeremy joined a motorway in a very slow / vulnerable car and been terrified of big lorries? Same jokes over and over. Boring !

I think they are trying a bit too much going mainstream rehearsing the old tricks for an always bigger audience.
I think they're going in the direction of Monthy Python while they should go a bit more JackAss.
And I think sooner rather than later we'll see a Top Gear movie at the cinema

Anyone has any idea on who the stig is?
I know he often changes and sometimes it's the brand's official tester, but there is a main one and my money is on Anthony Davidson although takuma sato was mentioned too

JackAss was a pretty unsophisticated concept - didn't like it.

If they're going for Monty Python in cars, then that seems a worthy end-point. :)

I love Monthy Python but it's not original anymore while Jackass has the existential dilemma written all over it. ;)

Sorry, but most people really wouldn't appreciate that link. A fair bit of profanity in it too. Had to edit it out.

Also, I fail to see what that has to do with the meaning of life. It's painfully puerile. :(

I did like when Duncan gave his position, and Jeremy said, "I can't understand a word you are saying." Reminded me of some of the BBC America broadcast shows that had subtitles for British accents (Life on Mars).

Exactly the comment in our house........this needs subtitles.

Rest of the show was tragic, and one funny joke doesn't make a TV show. Seinfeld it aint.

I always had a theory on comedy, that Americans like the Brit stuff a lot, Brits like the American stuff. Sort of, you like the other guys' stuff. When I lived in the UK, I found myself watching more US comedy, and in the States more of the Brit comedy.

So, what I am getting at is the pensioners people carrier was hilarious to me, because it was Brit humor, but even as an outsider, I have enough inside info to get the jokes. The "lovely" comments on the Sat Nav, talk of the war, stopping at a lay-by for a snack, going the wrong way on the slip road, shopping trolley on the back of the car. I had an 82-year old, a 75-year old, and a 70-year old as neighbors, and it was spot on (and they all drove in a Mondial estate). They were wonderful neighbors, but at times humorous in daily life to a Yank.

I agree. Variety is the spice of life.

When in the US, British comedy is a little different and, when in the UK, the reverse is true. :)

That's one of those things I get - Dave TV Top Gear all afternoon, with the silly Dave TV commercials. I was watching an old TG, where Clarkson said, "Welcome to the Christmas special". Hammond said, "but it's July, mate." Clarkson, "but not if you are watching this on Dave in 2014."

I think the "Specials" are cool as they're not as scripted - Just three guys having fun. [Except when they almost got shot in Louisiana! (?) ;) ]

The Middle East one where they go find the baby Stig was up there too IMO.

They were crossing Alabama at the time when they entered the "Hick Town". I was born and raised in Alabama (though a nicer part of it), so I was cringing from the moment they put those slogans on the sides of the car. I knew they really were asking for it and they just hadn't a clue - they still thought it was just silly nonsense at that point. I know some people think that scene was scripted but, knowing Alabama, I see that as a very plausible response to such things.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

They are lucky they weren't shot, but there's no Civil War in Alabama.

I moved from Alabama to Pennsylvania for 2 years before coming to the UK. The people of Alabama are not still fighting the Civil War - Pennsylvanians just wrongly assume they are, and frequently promote this falsity without any first hand experience of Alabama. I lost count of how many times I was asked if I enjoyed wearing shoes now that I was living up in the civilized north... yet the city that I was born in (Huntsville, Alabama) put man on the moon.
