Okay, is it just me or are the new cars coming out of the factory UGLY!?! Seriously, not since the 355/550 has Ferrari produced a good looking car. 360 - ugly 430 - not as ugly as the 360 but still ugly Enzo - cannot stand the fake F1 front nose, ugly 612 - UUUGLY 599 - same deal as the 430, not as ugly as the 612 but still ugly California - Ugly Just about 30 minutes ago I saw another California on the road as I was coming home. It did absolutely NOTHING to excite me visually. The front end did not excite me. It's road stance was too high. The rear tail lights sat WAY to high on the rear of the car. It was way too big for a car that should be a sport coupe. It did NOTHING to say it was "exotic". Now they have improve the performance of the cars, and I do like they they have FINALLY done away with stupid timing belts. But nothing about the new body stylings Ferrari has done is exciting to me. I thought that maybe I just needed to adjust to the new angle Ferrari was going design wise, but I haven't. Even after a few years I still don't like the styling. It would be nice if Ferrari got back to making EXOTIC sports cars. What do you guys think?
Not ugly (except the Enzo), but not really to my taste. The exception is the 458 Italia -- that thing is gorgeous! All that said, I'll likely end up adding a 360 at some point.
Not sure where to start. This alone is the exact opposite of what most think. I dunno..... maybe seek a new optometrist?
"What do you guys think? " If car design was easy , anyone could do it . It's not , and just anyone can't . Personal taste is all . It's an art.............not a science .
360 looks bloated but looks stunning as a CS... 430... ugly... enzo... not attractive but it is what it is. to me it all ended with the 355 and 550... the 599 is a brightspot and potentially the 458. I don't like the front bumper but the rest is very sexy and definitely a step out of the norm!
Yes, but somehow the CS doesn't look so bad. No, much worse than the 360 Yes Yes Extremely so. Disagree on this one. I think the 599 is attractive. Same with the 458, though both have flaws in their designs that could have been easily addressed.
Let me try again... 360 - Front headlights too big. The Challenge Stradale on the other hand, in TDF Blue or black, looks amaaazing. 430 - Front is very beautiful and keep growing on me, rear is very good but not great Enzo - The ultimate in drama supercar, it's not beautiful but it's EVIL and that's good for the last true flagship Ferrari 612 - I just don't get this car. Okey, this one IS ugly 599 - Very slick gentleman racer, the whole car screams "authority" California - I wouldn't call it ugly but for a Ferrari, it's the more boring thing ever made in terms of looks... 458 - Should have had four rear lights.. Okey, you can start flaming me now. Best designs IMHO are still the F355 Spider and 550 Maranello, perhaps those are the ones I grew up with when I opened my eyes for Ferrari cars.
Personaly,i don't find any of those cars ugly at all, and not just because they are Ferraris, but because they do not appeal to me. For instance,i love the look of the 430 Spider but have no desire for the 599,612 style car, does not appeal to me but i don't feel they are ugly. Like they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. B.
if ferraris are sooooo ugly, wtf are you doing on a FERRARI forum? i vote they are all BEAUTIFUL and that YOU are a FUGLY TROLL with late model ferrari envy.
Basically agree with you, although I like the 612 for what it is -- big four seater. I've seen it in black metallic, and it's better than OK. Compared to a 246 or 308, it isn't as pretty, but I don't think that's a fair comparison. The 360/F430 are too big, and the 360 ox-yoke nose already looks dated. To my eyes, the CS package doesn't rescue the 360 (wheels are better, but not enough). 458 is an improvement. Enzo is a disaster. California is interesting because it's new and has lots of gadgets, but certainly no eternal beauty. 599 isn't ugly or beautiful -- just another coupe that needs Jenny Craig. It should be faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo, but it's 300 lbs heavier and unfortunately it shows.
Because they used to be the most beautiful cars ever made? The modern stuff isn't that interesting. Look at the original 250 GT California next to the new one... it's painful.
I saw my first California around a week ago. I was really surprised. My first reaction was "THAT'S a Ferrari??" I agree with what you've said, nothing "Ferrari exotic" about it. I wouldn't say it is really "ugly," it just isn't a great design in a lot of ways. I wouldn't be bad as a Mazda or something like that, but it is a bit of a shocker as a Ferrari.
Well someone sure did get their panties all in a wad. LOL!!! Take a chill pill, it's just a discussion.
I sense no emotions for any of the current production cars. Contrary to most expressing opinion here, I do like the Enzo - a lot. Before that the 550 was the last good looking car. Pre 1984 ALL of them looked GREAT, with the exception of a few less happy one-offs. The new cars may be the best the world has to offer in terms of performance/drivability, but if the packaging doesn't whixper in my ear with a seductive voice, but instead screams 'committee', the answer is a no sale. That said, other manufacturers don't do much better in the looks department, except maybe Aston Martin for classic GT lines, and Pagani for exclusivity. I wouldn't part with my cash for a new one of either of them though. If I really wanted a brand new out of the box sportscar, I'd start looking in the direction of, for instance, TVR.
I like the 360 (esp the Stradale), the 599 and the 430 (lowered only - the stock ride height is so funny looking). Cali, 458, Enzo are all ugly. 612 isn't ugly, but is extremely boring.
And some are just plain ugly. The designs coming out of the factory are WEAK! The last car I saw in person that made me say "WOW" was the Mazda Furai. I saw it at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Extremely exotic looking, almost too exotic. None, and I mean NONE, of the latest Ferraris coming out of the factory have done that. It would be nice if Ferrari would make exotic looking cars to go along with the performance.
360 - ugly -- agreed 430 - not as ugly as the 360 but still ugly -- agreed Enzo - ugly -- agreed: a failed attempt at Lamborghini in-your-face-ness 612 - pass 599 - pass California - OK-ish 458 - cute
I wonder if the reason for these "less exotic" Ferrari's is due to the laws regarding safety? The 355 and 550 were the end of an era as far as I see it, they have beauty in there lines, they look lean and mean and have that "exotic flair". After those models did the law change regarding safety? I know the consumer was definitely becoming more aware of safety. Perhaps that is the reason? Whatever the reason I agree with your sentiments Ernie.
360 - not as ugly as the 430, borderline fail 430 - ugly Enzo - ugly 612 - Beautiful, but not exotic looking 599 - pass California - eh, pass 458- so ugly it makes the f430 look good heres my rating system
