US map upgrade for Becker navigation

User xcvb1 explained to me how to get updated maps for the Becker navigation units (6111, 6112, 794x, Cascade, Cascade Pro and Mexico). This is of particular interest to US owners since the newest US maps offered are V4 from 2008. I am repeating xcvb1 instructions here, with some more details for Ubuntu users, as I think it is very useful. First copy your original Compact Flash card to a new 4GB card. The new maps are bigger and won't fit a 2GB card. Copy instructions are here:

Supposedly BMW Business sat nav maps, Audi MMI 2G maps and NTG1 and NTG2 by Mercedes maps can be copied to the Becker system. I bought the 2015/16 Audi MMI 2G maps listed here for $14:

The following instructions are for Ubuntu 14.04. The general idea works on Windows/Mac also.

The 4GB CF card has two files on it:

1. Insert the CF card and rename TRACK01.RAW to TRACK01.iso (so you can open it with Archive Manager)
2. Right click on TRACK01.iso and choose Open with Archive Manager. Archive Manager will show two files packed in the ISO file:

3. Delete kN064NA01x04.DB
4. Close Archive Manager and eject CF card (I had some trouble with the deleted file being copied to the waste basket and still occupying space on the CF card. Closing Archive Manager and ejecting the CF card seems to remove it from the waste basket. I have not verified this.)
5. Re-insert the CF Card and right click on TRACK01.iso and choose Open with Archive Manager.
6. Copy kN064NA01x04.DB from the DVD to CF card using Archive Manager.
7. Rename kN144NAx01.db_ to kN064NA01x04.DB
8. Close Archive Manager
9. Rename TRACK01.iso to TRACK01.RAW

Voilà! The CF has updated maps. The first time I turned on Becker and started navigation, it was reading the CF card for about 30 seconds. Be patient!
