After the disastrous result of the GP of Singapore it is still possible the WDC if the Ferrari is competitive in the remaining 6 races.
Analyzing the numbers and assuming that Vettel could discount 7 points per race (Vettel 1° and Ham 2°), we can conclude that he should win 5 races and get a 2 position in the rest race.
This would give a hypothetical tie in points and Vettel would be champion for more victories (9 to 8).
Obviously this would be a very difficult situation but not impossible.
The hope is perhaps in the new engine that is to come and that there is not an unfavorable track.
The most difficult I think is Mexico, then could be the 2nd position here.
I keep positive think and I have hope.

    The current points

The current points deficit is 28, hence Sebastian needs to win four races (Not 5 - 7x4=28) to tie with Lewis. Five wins with Lewis in second place will give him the lead.

I'm assuming that Hamilton will win the race that Vettel is going to come out second because of that I speak of 5 victories.

    OK understood.

A tall order for Sebastian and his only hope is a DNF from Lewis in the next six races.

    Disagree

Many things can happen. Mechanical and accidental DNFs are not unrealistic for either driver. Way too many variables.

If we were only a couple races till the end, then yes. 28 points is difficult to make up but with 6 races remaining, heck Bottas could win it. :)

It certainly took an unfortunate turn that will be very difficult but not over. I wonder back in Maranello what the thought is. Start next car or keep going on this one?

Sorry its game over barring dnfs from Mercedes, Ferrari management should be reading riot act to Vettel they had a slim chance but likely impossible now.

It's not over till the last race. Reliability will become a factor as the season goes on and Malaysia, Japan and Brazil can all be potentially wet.

But I think rest of the season favors Merc. Malaysia, Suzuka, Interlagos, Austin are all ones where Merc should be on pole. Mexico and Abu Dhabi are probably the only ones where Ferrari will have a chance to win if the races are normal.

Is not necessary a DNF of Hamilton
It reach with 5 victories and a second position.
    The question is:
    Can Seb win 5 races?

Unfortunately merc have the upper hand in reliabilty too, next turbo = penalty and generally if its wet its the Ferrari that cannot get the tyres turned on.

Meh. Merc won't screw up like this. Hamilton is blessed. Stuff like this never happens to him. It's over.

Vettel stands a very small chance. He's overcome bigger gaps however, and as did Kimi against impossible odds.

That was a dumb move on Vettel's part, what a complete idiot. A very small chance for him to win now. Pisses me off! As I thought Vettel would win the WDC this year.

It was difficult before Singapore, as the Mercedes seems faster almost everywhere. But now Ferrari does not only need to be faster than Mercedes, but noticeable faster to close the post-Singapore gap. I´m not going to say that it´s impossible, but we´d need a big perfomance upgrade and still we would be depending on Mercedes´ mistakes and/or misfortune.

I think it´s over, but yet, we made a lot better than expected and it was the first time in the new turbo era that Mercedes hasn´t lead the championship for a while. There´s light at the end of the tunnel. If they manage to win a race more in 2017 and keep rising in 2018, I´ll be happy.

How about the headrest in Baku?

Nobody ever screwed that one up, yet MB managed to.

Or the one and only technical DNF MB had last year with Lewis' engine in Sepang.

    It can definitely happen.

For me Vettel's position can be affected by Bottas. Will Vettel finish P3 for the year and Bottas P2. There are not alot of points separating them now. This would not be welcome at all. Now potentially we have a Mercedes 1 and 2 for the WDC + constructors. Not good!
