How about a consensus: Do you have a clear bra installed on your F Car? Is it partial or full(meaning front bumper, hood and front fenders)? Me: yes, full
I have none on my Ferraris. Have put it on my McLaren. Really don't like the way it looks. Change is subtle but noticeable (like looking at an oil painting behind glass). Properly polished Ferrari can get a visual depth to the paint that is obstructed by expel in my opinion. With that said, at some point I will have the bumper on my F430 resprayed and may consider expel on the bumper only.
I have it on just the nose, considering I did almost 5k miles this year I am glad I have. On my prior car I had it as well, less the grill surround, while the nose was mint the grill surround took a couple of nasty rock chips
Just got my '03 Modena from CA with clear bra on bumper, hood (¾ of the way up) side skirts, and mirrors. Will probably remove it. I don't know how long it's been on the car so as with my 911's I replaced it every 3 to 4 years. Otherwise, kind of tough to remove. I may not replace it as I agree with Tom. Can't really appreciate the car's finish so much. Plus I really don't have a problem with a respray when time comes.
Don't have one on the 430. It has 30k and when I bought it looks flawless. I can see some of the "pepper" chips on lower hood now a few months later and a few car washes into it. I think a solid detail will fix most of what I see. Still debating doing one as the front bumper was repainted and looks great but even the best clear bra doesn't shine like the natural look..... but those chips do hurt...
I do. Hood + front fenders are custom fit (not pre cuts) to have better wrap around. Front bumper, sides, and rear bumper are pre-cut.
I do. Partial, I suppose: it covers the front bumper, front fenders, and front of the hood, but stops about 18" back from the front of the car.
This is really helpful. Please keep the comments coming. I just purchased a '99 Nero 360 coupe with 6spd manual and 4,700 miles. The paint is original and absolutely flawless. I hope to keep it that way while putting some modest mileage on the car (roughly 1k per year).
I have it on the nose, mirrors, sill, behind the front and rear wheels. I also have a windshield skin. Love it.
There seems to be some consensus on use of clear bra in general. Any more advice on brand and/or what to look for in an installer?
F430, full nose, mirrors and rockers. Expel ultimate. Can't be without it here in the land of dust, sand, and rocks!
Anyone using Suntek in the UK? I have one of those ugly "leather-ette" items which I don't like to use outside of my garage for obvious reasons.
I have Suntek on my cars and it works well and looks great. I think it comes in wider sheets than other brands, as my installer was able to cover the entire, very large, hood/ bonnet of my Porsche Macan in one piece. Some Ferraris are equally challenging to cover, such as the California and 599. I will say that the major brands (Xpel, 3M, Suntek) are very similar in appearance, in that you can't really see it on the car as it looks like the paint. Important to get a quality installer in your area, and that's usually by word of mouth or Yelp review. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
