Ferrari is all about the MOTOR. Ditch the (ice) motor, ditch the brand. When they go all electric, they will all be 'Folgers Instant.' Ferrari and Skoda will all be the same thing. 'Styling' is just a coupla thousand $ in fiberglass .....
As a shareholder, what direction do you see the publicly owned company going in. Both long term and short? Thanks. Joe
One nice thing about older manulal cars is that they are much easier to keep running. A well maintained manual box can theoretically last for hundreds of thousands of miles and is relatively easily rebuilt. Even more so when the cars are old enough to be totally mechanical, as parts are more easily made. It will be much easier to 3D print a shift fork than an electric shift computer. It's not all bad new for new car fans, though. Ferrari is making so many cars now that there will always be a rolling spare parts collection for those interested in keeping their cars running long after Ferrari stops making parts.
Dont get too excited. High HP Electrics will get caught in the cross hairs soon enough. And even Yugo will make 1000+ HP Electrics. This is literally 'childs play.'
Ferrari seems to have made a good show of it over the years! I get what you are saying, but I'm saying racing is still at the core of the company- without it there is simply no Ferrari.
I agree 100% with you! There is already talk about ICE going to be banned in Germany (among other countries) in 20 years.
I get that. But ya gotta admit that lambos come out swinging every year and competitively, and racing does seem to interest them.
I think you are going to see its a lot easier to say they will ban ICE than having it happen in fact. In 20 years time ICE alone will be quite a bit more efficient- possibly 3-4x. You will be surprised to find ICE has some more life in it- and that's alone, never mind with some hybrid element. @WJGESQ - I think the core of Lamborghini is quite a bit different from Ferrari.
Enzo said it himself. The brand is about ENGINES. NOTHING More or Less. Only the 'mystic' marques of Rolls and Bentley will survive. Engines/drive train dont matter a whit to their clientele as long as they work. Only external/internal styling and accommodations do. ALL the rest will just become 'Has Beens' and 'Never Will Be Agains.' Ferrari included.
It would make sense for the factory to offer the box, as an extra cost option. Most cars can be special ordered with ridiculous unnecessary options. Almost all modern sports cars are loaded up with take it or leave it nanny features, computers in the dash, and creature comforts. Most new F car buyers are old men who are not interested in shifting.
Hey Sergio, over here, <whispering> If you brought back a manual transmission you could easily get to 15,000 production units per year......
I disagree. To agree I think you must strongly underiestimate the intelligence of their clientele. Yes some will fall under the category of too much money to care. I doubt most however.
For those who say the ferrari is about performance, then you must know the electric ferrari is not far off. The ICE thats an antique concept like a MT.
Ok guys... any one who doesn't believe manual gearboxes are a DYING category can stop posting here. Because it is. Now we can start complaining Ferrari's don't have CD slots anymore.
Porsche said with the 991 GT 3 no more manual. Now they brought it back for the new one Seems like demand is still there.
