I drove this thing yesterday. It's a wicked little beast.

That's the D1 depicted in that thread. The D4 is rear drive only and I was surprised at how good it was for what is essentially a home-built track car. I have to save my driving impressions for my stories, unfortunately.

Sorry, but that's why they pay me the big bucks. It'll be worth it, though.

I've been following the development of this car for years. Initially Dennis was able to post everything up on the web, but a coupla years ago he stopped doing that- possibly at the request of his investors.

Glad to see he finally has a car!

"home-built track car", I give him way more credit than that. Lots of engineering in that car.

Look forward to reading your impression.

My story's finally published in the latest issue of EVO. It's available in the UK and will be another couple of weeks before copies land in North America.

I wonder how the rwd setup compares performance wise to a leading FSAE car.

He should do a short wheelbase version...

The wheelbase wasn't a factor with the setup I drove.

The virtual version, on the other hand, was a power-on oversteer mother trucker of a car...

At Sears? For some reason I thought you were South East. (Or do they just call that South.)

b-mak is from the frozen tundra and he traveled to the drive the real thing.

Me? I am in the Southeast and sampled it virtually.

Dennis is an interesting fellow. I met him many years ago and I’m probably partially responsible for over-infecting him with his tracking pathology. He used to show up at PIR with his BMW M coupe and I would give him rides in either my Stratos or F40. At that time he was doing well inventing electronic gadgets and writing software. Quite the self-made-man, and he proving it again by inventing these boutique track cars.

Specialty track cars have a rarified market. Without a racing class to realistically compete in, they are good intellectual projects and test beds for technology. I applaud his efforts.

I should have mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but the story is in EVO on news stands in North America currently. Pick up a copy and let me know what you think.
