I use On track Insurance for the 360 Challenge. Agreed price on car for HPDE events, not for competition. About $400 per weekend.

For the $400 a weekend, what is the deductible and declared value?

It is declared value, the deductible is 10% of coverage limits, but not less than $2500.

Lockton offers policies to cover multiple track days / events. I don't recall the specifics, so I'll just point you to their website.

Buy an auto policy that excludes racing, but not tracking.

Few standard auto policies (in fact, I'd probably say zero, but happy to be corrected) will provide ANY coverage of ANY kind for use of a car on a race track.

There are a number of specialist insurers (a few noted above, like Lockton Affinity) that offer one-off or even limited seasonal coverage for "track days" (i.e. "Drivers Education"- such as Ferrari Club, Porsche Club, et al events).

MOST of these policies have strict limits (eg. $100K in value) and exclude competition. READ and UNDERSTAND these policies carefully.

AIG Private Client Group does offer a very comprehensive program that covers DE and competition events, agreed value up to and beyond $350K+ (eg. they can cover your 458 Speciale if you total it on track) but only offer that if you're an existing client as part of your overall coverage.

If all you do is a few track events a year and you can find adequate coverage, Lockton's program is really good. However, if you are going to do more than a handful, it will get pricey and make sure you are fully covered. Also note that most finance and lease companies explicitly prohibit use of vehicles on a track for any reason, so check that agreement as well.

Wow... very helpful info... been doing some additional research before I pull the bandaid off and drop $11k. Was actually referred to Ben at theopentrack.com who was very helpful. Apparently they can do an annual policy without limitation for track days and they can go up to $400k for my car. Can anyone tell me if they have purchased from them or read their policy? Thanks again, needing this by Saturday am.

Ask your broker. Several insurers do not exclude driving on a track. Think about it. They want you to be a better driver. That's why they label track days as HPDE. Crap insurers exclude anything that happens at a racetrack. So if your car gets stolen from the parking lot, no coverage. I am covered for anything but "racing and preparation for racing" and I pay $600 a year. I don't race my car. I drive it on a racetrack on occasion. Ask your broker to do his job, read the exclusions, and find you a policy that will cover you for track days.
