Was using the phone app and got strange results. My lap times were within 1 or 2 seconds of each other all day and were consistent with what I usually do. But my top and low speeds varied by a lot. 5 mph variations on top speed and 10 mph on low speeds. And my fastest laps had no correlation to laps with highest speeds. Is this usual or maybe the app is not accurate on speed or something else?

Do you use an external GPS or booster?

Never had good luck with those apps...

so you think its equip issue vs driving issue? I do too

the laps felt identical seat of pants. braking, shifting points all at same place on track. cant see being so many mph difference with same lap times

    thanks

I just have never been able to get quality information from a phone app without external GPS. RaceChrono, HLT, Trackmaster, none of them.

That's why I recommend the VBox Sport or AiM Solo.

You need to use a GPS with at least 10hz refresh for it to be useful. Most phones only have 1hz refresh which is one data point per second, so the results will be all over the place. I have a BT GPS unit paired with my phone that works well, I can get the model info if you like. I think it was ~$100 on Amazon and has 10hz refresh (1 data point every .1 second).

AiM Solo is 10 Hz, VBox Sport is 20 Hz
