The engine modifications are interesting, but the bodywork does look a lot like a kit car.

I remember this car was discussed in the 348/355 forum when it was originally listed in the summer - the images in the advert are identical, so I can only assume it didn't sell the first time around.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Is this an original Koenig F48 or something else?

40k seems cheap for such a car. I'm confused.

Interesting that these cars end up being worth no more than an immaculate version of their standard base car, I looked at a 328 with twin turbo's and I think app 430bhp before I bought my standard car. They were the same money. Imagine how much more they would of been when they were new.

I can't seem to find the original thread on it for some reason.

However, from memory, people decided that it wasn't original: the engine was converted by someone other than Koenig and not to Koenig's specifications, though the body panels seemed to be part of the original kit that Koenig would have fitted.

Personally, I find the idea of a turbo 348 pretty interesting, but I much prefer the 348's OEM aesthetics. The loss of the strakes from the sides and back effectively dumps a defining styling feature of the car and the revamped front end looks more Japanese than Italian.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Makes sense, I think a car that came direct from Koenig back in the day might fetch a premium. There are lots of Koenig style conversions done later that aesthetically don't quite hang together so well.

The engine looks like the F48 but the body work looks a little off IMHO.

In the advert it says it is possibly one of only 2 uk cars, if this is true then the other one is yellow and is a genuine Koenig as it was bought new by somebody local who sold it as he had an F40 which he still owns ( as far as i am aware), and the yellow F48 is now with its second owner still who has owned the Koenig F48 for at least 15 years, he's a very nice guy who is very well know with FOC uk.

Here are some photos I posted awhile ago.
