    Hi,

I'm driving from London to Maranello in about a week.

The most direct route goes through France and Switzerland. Both countries are known for their restrictive laws and enforcement.

What other routes have you taken that might be more fun?

Great idea. I just posted it. I'm also going on to Monaco and will then fly home from Nice. The car will get shipped home.

It depends on what you mean by fun? If you want to go fast then you need to go on the German autobahns. I have done that, but I don't personally find driving on a motorway the best fun at any speed. I have driven my Ferrari down to Italy 3 times. I go on the ferry to Normandy and then avoid the autoroutes (apart from a few free sections) through France (going via Orleans etc. to Mont Blanc and then take the Autostrada through Italy, via Milano to Maranello. I did once, when the Mont Blanc tunnel was closed, go further South to cross the Alps, but whilst that was spectacular it was very slow. Especially as I got stuck behind an Italian army truck going round all the hairpins and all the soldiers hanging out the back found it very amusing to have a Ferrari following them, but completely unable to overtake on the twisty road!

I haven't ever had trouble with the French police but then my fun is from decent roads with nice scenary and going at a decent, but not highly illegal, pace.

The N202 drop down to Nice is well worth it. Also means you get a fantastic drive along the coast via Cap Ferrat and Menton into Italy.
