With all the hype usually associated with "High" or "Record" sales reported at "public" venues, like auctions, are there any efforts or entities following up on (verifying) these "results" being "real" (i.e. item actually selling to an end-user) or does every one just accept published numbers and move on to next "shock'n'awe" ?
    Just curious.

I think most people accept the published claims, but someone for sure would call out the auction house on any exaggerated claims, especially on the very high end stuff. If it's a 365 GT 4 2+2 or something in that range, I don't know that people would look that closely and might let an exaggerated claim go.
