William,

I used Ferrari of Los Gatos. I still have one month left on my pre-owned warranty so I did not want to risk jeopardizing it.

The technicians there are top notch. I purchased the car 1 year ago. The major service was suppose to be completed. I have a receipt from Francorchamps of Costa Mesa, CA. At that time the clutch was redone and a Tubi exhaust was installed.

Everything that Francorchamps touched, I've had to have redone. That includes the Tubi. The Tubi was defective when they installed it. The section the mates to the manifold pipes was the wrong size. This caused the Tubi to shift towards the passenger side of the car when tightened. Tubi warranted the part. However, I still had to pay for the labor.

The clutch was also a mess. It looks as if the previous owner quickly sold the car after the major was done at Francorchamps.

I am a little gun shy about who works on my 348. I don't mind paying a little more money for quality service.

Thomas, the technician at Ferrari of Los Gatos who did this last service said the previous tech who did the major was incompetent. Thomas is nice guy and does not throw these descriptions around lightly.

I am now confident the car is close to being completed. However, it has cost me approximately $16,000.00 to get it to my standards.

Hey, how come William gets to live where the Ferrari labor prices are reasonable and also where the girls are hot (Buenos Aires)? Some of us just missed the boat on planning certain things. At least one person still has their priorities in order. :)

I just had a major service done on my 348 ts. The price was $10,880.28.

$7,000.00 was the actual cost for the service. However, I had to replace two leaky oil lines at $1,100.00 and $335.00. Both o2 sensors were replaced @ $331.00 each and a long list of incidentals accounted for the balance.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prices here are higher than most of the country.

William:

How much do you think a 30K service should cost on my TR? I mean a service where everything is done and documented.

Thanks.

depends how much u intend to drive it ? a normal major service costs around $5k, if u can do it yourself u can save about $2500
& realize u r talking about a 23 yr old car. Parts can b expensive & rare

Hi guys. I am thinking of buying my long time dream car...a 1978 308 GTB with 47,250 miles on it. I am finally able to afford the purchase price and insurance but I am wondering about the cost of regular maintenance. Can anyone provide me with their experience in this area. Thanks for your help.
