Many thanks to everyone who lended advice and guidance. I got the rear bank rebuilt last night and just waiting for the rotors to come in. Tonight...the front bank.

In the mean time, looks like I've got a few days to polish the valve covers to a shiny metallic finish!

Thanks Mitchell and John...my goal for the evening is to have one of the distributor caps completely refurbished by the end of the evening. I'll tackle the front-bank tomorrow.

I'll do a complete write-up and place in the "Parts & Service" section.

Many thanks to all.

Answer to question 2;

Twist the carbon pin in the direction to tighten the spring coil (can't remember which way, but you'll figure it out by feel) and pull it out.

Ans. to number (1): The rotors on my 85 QV were pressed on. There was a flat brass spring, which holds the rotors on thru friction fit. Good luck.

Mark,

About an hour ago I just bought 2 rotors @ $21.00/each, shipping included. The wires I already have (bought them a year ago).

Maybe you can offer one bit of assistance...
(1) How is the rotor removed?
(2) Is there a preferred method to removing the center carbon button connected to the spring?

Your prices are lower than what I paid. I have added your contact information to my Ferrari files for the next time I need parts.

Thank you Joe for the help on the center button. That center carbon button is retained with a spring and I was hesitant to pull it out not knowing how to get it back in or what I might damage.

Also, It seems like the rotor is attached with fastening hardware, but I can't see any. How is the rotor removed?

Pull out the center carbon button. You'll find the screw underneath.

The QV rotors are available and much much less than the 2V rotors.

I've decided it is time to replace the spark plug wires on the QV. I've removed the distributor caps and figured out how to replace the 1-4 spark plug wires. It's the center coil wire that has me perplexed. Can someone tell me how that wire is removed and then reattached to the distributor?

Second, while I was at it, I figured I'd replace the distributor rotors while I was in there. First, how is it removed?...and second, there has got to be another rotor out there; Fiat, Alfa,...that will fit the QV for less than $191/each.

Thanks for your help.
