On the 328, my mirrors where getting "floppy" and tightening would help for a time, then they would loosen again. I removed the pivot bolts and put Loctite 242 (medium strength) thread locker on. Seems good now. |

I regularly have to tighten my QV's driver's side mirror. Go ahead & remove your pivot bolt to see if there are threads left. I think I now have a fully threaded bolt. A split or cup style lock washer should help. However, what I believe is happening is that the mirror vibrates & wears the areas being compressed, necessitating re-tightening. Have been meaning to try using a punch to dimple the two sides of the inner piece to see if it would increase the friction & stabilize the joint. The nut fits inside of a hexagonal recess molded into the bracket, If you try to put a washer under it, the nut doesn't seat far enough into the hex & will spin when you go to tighten it. |

I have an 85 Euro QV and had the same problem with both of my mirrors when purchased. Fortunately all I had to do was pull the accordian boot back and re-tighten. Let me know what you find that works because I am sure given time I will need the fix myself. |

The passenger side mirror (euro car) is quite loose. Not where it attaches to the door, but inside the rubber boot. I pulled back the accordian like boot and there was a horizontal nut and bolt. It rotates on this bolt. I tried to tighten the bolt, but it was already as tight as I wanted to pull on the door. Has anyone had this problem? I wonder if I could take off the nut and add a few washers and then tighten it down? I can't tell if there are still threads to go on the bolt. |
