Remember that your brake lights are NOT invisible to the police. If you are using a detector where they are prohibited, do not, I repeat, DO NOT hit your brakes, use your emergency brake to slow down. The police are smart enough to look for brake lights when gunning folks. (And please try this once or twice in an open area so you don't lose control...) |

The cops have "radar detector detectors", which are supposed to figure out if you are using a radar detector. (I think the keys on my computer used for typing 'detector' are shot after that sentence.) The V1 is invisible to them - with an important caveat - but others including the various Passports/Escorts aren't. Another excellent reason to get a V1. However, there are rumors of a new "detector-detector" that can see a V1, but as I understand, this is unconfirmed. |

I contributed an Escort to the attorney-general's collection. Here's what I learned: picked up the radar at about a mile out, left it on, when passing the trap they hit me with a concentrated shot, which is when their detector picks up yr response. Message: when in OPP territory (read: 400 series highways, esp 400 just N of Toronto), run with it on, unplug it at first real sign of radar. PS For some reason, my Expedition never gets checked. maybe they don't believe it can go fast enough to matter. Good luck! |

Supposedly it will not be detected by their "detector, detector"...check their website for details... On my way to BC today, where V1 is perfectly legal to have. :-) |

as you probably know, in ontario radar detectors are illegal to use (not to own) and law enforcement folks have detectors to detect radar detectors (a mouthful!). Does anyone know if the V1 will warn me soon enough to avoid being detected?
