Just a follow up, The plug did have a aluminum crush washer on it but as stated its neccessary to replace it as it was slightly warped causing the leak Surprisingly, Pep Boys had similar sized copper washers |

Jeff--there is definitely a copper washer. If you didn't replace it, that's likely why it's leaking. Although it's prbably a bit of overkill, I routinely wrap the threads of any liquid plug with a small amount of teflon tape as a precautionary measure. |

Remember, the copper sealing washer must either be replaced or annealed. Otherwise it WILL leak! |

check your bin where the oil was drained into... sometimes these things fall off and get unnoticed while you are "fetching" for your plug in the oil! |

Byron, I am not 100% sure until I get underneath but it seems to be leaking right from the area of the bottom plug, its never leaked at all before I changed it. I don't recall seeing any washer on the gear oil plug, maybe I missed it when it came off |

are you sure it's coming from the plug? I'm not sure I would use any teflon sealer at risk of any of it traveling into your gearbox... Isn't there a washer that goes between the plug and box? I believe mine had one when I drained it...

After changing my gear oil I've noticed a decent sized leak that must be coming from the bottom plug, I tightened it fairly well so I dont want to risk tightening more to strip the threads, should I try a teflon sealer on the threads or any other reccomendations or brands? Thanks |
