It is possible for other leaks to appear to be a distributor leak. The base gasket itself (especially if it has been reused, or the valve covers have been off) The lower bolt of the 3 distributor bolts, and even the farthest left exhaust manifold bolt can leak oil if there is not sealant on the threads of the stud. |

Yup, Made the plugs, put them in myself. I may have made them a bit short though so next time I take the cam shafts out, I will redo them again. In the mean time, is that the only source of the leak? |

There was a TSB 15 or 20 years ago to plug the distributor end of the hollow camshaft. I had Tony Palladino at Modena Motors plug my camshafts back then, and have never had a leak since then. You might want to check and see if the plugs are there in your camshafts. |

I have had this oil leak out the 5-8 dizzy for a while now and it is very annoying. I believe I have 2 leaks: 1) the small o-ring around the dizzy shaft, and 2) the larger oil seal around the dizzy plate. I have tried: 1. new o-ring installed with Hylomar 2. new seal(s) couple of times 3. Roughing up the cam shaft at the seal area with 600 count very fine sand paper. All to no avail. What is it that I am missing? Is there a slightly bigger o-ring? or some other trick?
