On my 1986 Euro TR I had a respected custom exhaust shop fabricate a stainless system to my design. They fabricated pipes to run from the back of the headers to the area behind the motor where the Euro mufflers were located, flanged at the ends. They then flanged 2 high performance free flow cats to mount at the pipe end flange. The cats were located in a similar position to the US model, 1 atop the other. The opposite end of the flanged cat then ran to the factory flanged Euro silencers, located inside the rear fenders. Silencers have the tips exiting out the rear. The right bank then exited out the left rear, the left out the right rear. They also fabricated flanged test pipes to mount in place of the cats for track days etc. Total cost was around $900 cash. No mufflers, either cats and silencers or just the silencers. Significant weight reduction over the stock Euro system, drastic weight savings compared to the complicated US system. Perhaps the best TR sound I have ever heard. Just another point of reference. |

Yes, the picture is exactly the same as the system that I have. So it looks like i will have to fabricate extensions between the shorter US exhaust manifold and the euro muffler inputs. Thanks a lot for the help guys. preston |

As I suspected based on Plip's diagram, the euro headers are different than U.S. headers. So unless the car is a euro fabrication will be necessary to fit up the system. |

Preston: Still thinking about this.....I now think that the euro headers are different than the U.S. cars. I think they are longer, meaning they end farther out the back than the U.S. version headers do. If this is the case, then some fabrication will be needed to mate the euro pipes to your headers. Unless your car is also a euro. |

Jeff, the other box arrived containing two resonators. What do you think. Will this competle euro exhaust bolt directly to the US model TR? preston |

Jeff, I am still waiting for one more box to arrive. According to the pictures in the parts list you are correct -- there should be two resonators that are installed ahead of the mufflers? I will confirm once I receive the last box of parts. preston |

Preston: Are you sure there aren't two more pieces of this puzzle? There is normally two mufflers as you described, and to smaller resonators that mount kinda behind the rear wheel area. Perhaps these peices are missing. Do the mufflers have one inlet? Is the outlet one pipe that splits into two tail pipes? Lastly, if there is only one inlet, then you will need some kind of y-pipe coming off the headers that goes into a single pipe for entrance into the muffler. Is your car without a U.S. system? If so and if the euro system is complete it's an easy install. But if any brackets or other pieces are missing then they will have to be fabricated. As for performance the euro might be perhaps 5 more horses than a U.S. system. Sorry I'm so full of questions, but I do plan on modifying my TR's exhaust soon and am always trying to learn all I can. |

Jeff, thanks for the reply. It is as you describe it. Two seperate pipes come off the exhaust ports and feed two seperate mufflers one muffler stacked above the other. preston |

Bruce, I am going to have someone do the install. I don't have the time. I am trying to figure out if it is practical? pd |

I'm not sure, but I thought the euro exhaust had two "resonators" and two mufflers. It seems like pipes came off the headers and went to the resonators located at each rear corner behind the rear wheel well, and then from there into two mufflers stacked one above the other, and then out the back. Preston: Did you say pipes from the headers go to ONE muffler? Do the pipes come off the headers and merge into one (y-pipe) and then go into the muffler? |

Great to hear from you Bruce. Actually I picked up a complete euro exhaust system for a song and was wondering how hard it would be to fit it to my TR. The euro exhaust has no cats (pipes are straight through to the muffler). I was looking to go this way to keep the car looking stock. Make no mistake, I love the way the Tubi sounds! See you soon. preston |

I am considering installing a euro exhaust system on my 1988.5 TR. Can anyone tell me if this is a direct bolt on or will modifications be required. I would appreciate any and all input. Thanks. pd |
