Philip
Thanks - I've a wild hair to try the 36s down the road as well. Perhaps with the new 260 cams.
I have not measured the fuel consumption yet. I have found a chassis dyno down the road that does 3 pulls for $75, so give me a couple of weeks and will try to have a RWHP graph.

Interestingly, the car is now a bit lighter in the rear after the removal of the FI, cat and muffler where it sits higher astern. It's also easier to throw the tail out with power, but still very controllable (long wheelbase advantage). Any best way to take 1 - 2" in ride height off the rear? (see attached photo and plz excuse the shop dirt and no wheel center caps)

Thanks to all the great FChat folks who helped with this labor of love.
Russ

Russ
Delighted to hear your news. I am sure it is very satisfying after all the wait. I am about 2/3rds the way through the reassembly of my 308 after the water pump failure and will put in the 185 ACs with the 34mm venturis as see how she runs. This will give 145/60/F36/185 for the usual jets. Then I'll pull the carbs tops off, put in the 36s and hav another go with 150[155]/60[65]/F36/185[165] and report back.
How is the fuel consumption?

Very nice, Russ. The ducting to the airbox turned out neat and fine. And I see you're really enjoying the feel and sound of all your hard work.

Finalized the jetting. After futzing around with many different jettings the original guess was right except for a rich accell pump.
Here's the current optimized Weber jetting for a 3.2 qv with stock FI cams and 40 DCNF-12s:
34mm venturis, 150 main jets, 190 air corrector, 60 idle jets and 140 accell jets (down from 160).
Gary, the Weber magician, drove a 308GTB qv side-by-side and he said the carb'd 3.2 Mondial was much faster making the 308 qv seem boring by comparison. It certainly sounds the part and validated the Porsche Weber conversion experience. I took it out and it really grabs at 2700 and pulls ferociously up to the redline - it is a wildly different car. Hard to explain, but it feels lighter, more so than the loss of the FI, cat and original muffler (the rear seems a little higher). Need to just add extra throttle return spring, detail clean and button up the car and we're done next week. Have delayed the distributor replacement for a couple of weeks, so all of this with a stock ignition.
Cost all told was about $3500, and that includes development and tuning time.
Will post a more complete conversion summary in a week or so.
