If you missed my previous posts on this event, it's a low-key charity affair, with no admission fee if you are showing a car, and a turn-out of exotic vehicles that comes close to Concorso Italiano, but without the snobbishness! More details: Date: Sunday October 7 Show time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Registration: 8:30 am Place: Lincoln Middle School 1250 Fernside Blvd Alameda, CA 94051 Food is available (coffee and danish in the morning, spaghetti at lunchtime), as are T-shirts and raffle tickets. You don't have to pre-register -- just turn up with your car by 8:30 am. However, pre-registration is encouraged, and is organized by Scott Harding of the Alfa club at (510) 521-1453. Cutoff date for pre-registration is September 15th There is no admission or registration fee if you show your vehicle. You don't even have to pre-register, although that is encouraged. When I get home I can post details of where to send details of the car you want to show, etc. It's organized by a guy at the Alfa club, and is in support of the Alameda Special Olympics. Admission for non-exhibitors is something like $10, not a big deal. You are asked to have your car in place by 8:30 am, and to keep it there until at least 3:00 pm in the afternoon, but latecomers are not turned away. Food is provided: coffee, pastries, etc., in the morning, with pasta, salads, etc., at lunchtime. There is a modest charge for this, even if you are exhibiting. Also there's a raffle.(Remember, it's a fund-raiser.) Most of the cars on show are smart, without being true concours. There are usually examples of everything from Fiat 500s to Ferraris and Lambos. Most people drive their cars to the show -- last year I followed a pre-war Alfa 8C on to Alameda Island. I would estimate that there were maybe 100 cars in all last year. The Fiat America club uses the event as a venue for their Fiat of the year contest, so you are assured of seeing a good selection of Fiats! |
