OK, a tubbed Ferrari would be new TV ,, , maybe even add a lesson on the use of the vernier scale... .. . Then end it up with a POS Lambragini Espada ,, , , , Put like a Big Block in it. Be kind of like the Jensen Interceptor.

Adam,
My neighbor has a 100 yr anniversary model HD. Wants an Iron Cross air cleaner. OK, go figure.
Nice bike. .. .. New aircleaner, so JJ's gettin paid. .. . . . guess you gotta watch your bottom line. If I'd of paid attention in shop, I'd be driving an Enzo.

Saw that "Hellcamino". I'd like to see JJ take a wrecked, burnt, abused 308 or something, and build the SH*T out of it! A monster "blown" motor sticking out of the FRONT. Pipes sticking up,or some "zoomies". Tubbed, with slicks,or on a 4 wheel drive chassis. Now,THAT would be "special!" (said in the Dana Carvey's "Church lady" characters voice. Gee,hope I didn't offend any real,"church ladies" who drive Ferrari's that might be viewing this!)

ADAM, nice WCC bike. Nicely done, nice primary cover .. . . nice, nice, nice.
(I really should check all listings before a response.)

A WCC will hold it's value, and go up, , ,, , especially when JJ dies. (Gang membership has it's rewards.) Funny! Oh, and I bought my Ferrari when I found out that Enzo was a porn star., ,, , , , , ha, ha Like really, ha ha (smirk)

Hey Frank,

Last night JJ built a "Hellcamino" out of a perfectly good elco. .. .. . .
MMMMMMmmmmmmmm, Discover that! I'll bet all of the Dad's in JJ's old trailer park tuned in for that educational episode.

You know what else is funny? The Discovery Channel and all the "biker" stuff. (I like the biker stuff-used to be one years ago, can't ride anymore due to an accident. But,rode bikes since I was a little kid. Mini-bikes,then dirt bikes, then, street bikes) Anyway. When the Discovery channel first started out. It was always about really scientific stuff-archeaology,anthropology,astronomy,etc...But,now all of a sudden,it's all bike stuff! Pretty funny. Could be a Saturday Night Live skit...the kids from Wakefield School taking a field trip to the Discovery Channel studios, and go in and it's filled with a bunch of old, bearded, long haired, tattood guys wearing black leather jackets and vests,Harley shirts, but, doing "scientific" stuff, acting all "scientific" (like Alice Cooper did in Waynes World)a bunch of scientific stuff, posters,a globe, all over. Pretty funny stuff!

The explanation he gave was on Motorcycle Mania II, and it was a very very vague explanation. No family tree to prove it.

I find it very interesting, that they (History Channel) searched the entire country looking for descendants of the infamous outlaw Jesse James, because they desperately needed DNA proof prior to resurrecting what was believed to be the burial ground of late Jesse James, and never made any mention whatsoever of Jesse James from WCC, who even has the same name !! If, that's even his birth given name.

Don't you find that weird ?
I do.

Also, the whole Monster Garage thing seems like a soap opera for men. Everything is over dramatized, eleventh hour, cliff hanger, b.s., when in reality, the whole taping probably went very differently.
I think it's all just to sell TV time I suppose, and tee shirts ! LMAO !
It's amazing TV producers use the same 'ol tricks over and over again to get people to watch, and it still works !
I just think it gets old after awhile.

Pete peter; gotta agree with you about the guys named "Jesse James" who all say that they are a direct relation to the original. Hard to tell who is and who isn't-there's so many. You Got "Jesse James" at WCC. "Jesse James" Dupree, the singer of that GREAT hard rock band,JACKYL. And,I saw a story on Americas Most Wanted last year about a criminal,I think he was out there in SoCal,named "Jesse James",who told everyone that HE is a direct descendant of the original "Jesse James",and thats why he is a bandit. So,who's actually related? They all can't be. (It's just like here in Chicago. Too many Italian guys who say that they are a relation to Al Capone!) And,Adam G. agree with your comment about the Orange County Chopper guys. Those guys DEFINITELY Kick Ass! Paul and Paul,Jr are old world craftsman, making some of the most awesome, incredible looking 2-wheeled art ever! I'd give anything to meet them, and wish I had the dough to commision a 2-wheeled masterpiece from them...In the reminiscent look of a classic Ferrai,in Red. (Hey,Discovery channel-why don't you have a contest where a viewer can win a personally made bike from OCC? And,maybe a WCC bike, too!)

Well here is what I know about JJ:
Gregory is his middle name
He used to be a bodyguard for a few heavy metal bands( Slayer etc.)in the 80's. After suffering a injury he went back to welding/fabricating that was a hobby. Boyd Coddington hired him for welding/fabricating. He then had the idea for WCC, and began selling shirts; in 1989 I believe; with the goal of his own shop. He then starting modifying/building bikes on the side before opening WCC full-time in 1994. There's a good article in Autoweek (check www.autoweek.com , archives week of
August 18th)for more. A very similar story to that of Boyd Coddington actually.............

Slightly off-topic here, but....
About a year ago, two really serious, customized Simms bikes (with "Simms" spelled in a leather flame job type style on the seat) were parked in front of the local Houstons rest. here in Pasadena. Everyone, I mean everyone, stopped to check those two bikes out; young, old, rice rocket drivers, even the old Pasadena blue-hair ladies were getting their panties in a bunch.
Those bikes had PRESENCE! :-)
That WCC bike that Adam has is not too bad either!!!

couple months ago on the History Channel, they were doing a biography and family tree on Jesse James (the real Jesse James). They interviewed a few (2 to be specific) real biological descendants of the real Jesse James. Their were only two, and they never made any mention of any descendants in California. That's when my first suspicions arose.

On the Discovery Channel (one of the shows) he claimed to be a direct descendant of the late infamous Jesse James, thus, maybe he has lied.

Kinda like what "the don" did here.

like I said, you wanna a real bike buy one from Ron Simms www.ronsimms.com
no lies at least.
once the lies start, gotta wonder maybe they lied about the work they did or parts they put on ???

One of the best and most innovative today is Billy Lane. He works out of a small space in an old retail strip center in melbourne FL. Really cool stuff. Much of the stuff they do is fabricated from junk pieces of tubing and steel lying around the shop. Not a bunch of mail order bolt on stuff. Check out his hubless rear wheel in the link..still trying to figure it out.

At the link, click on his picure or name and it will show his creations.

All the other stuff does not matter to a bike enthusiast, you buy the bike because you love it, and because the quality of work is perfect.

There are people that will buy a WCC because they think its cool, there are people that will buy a WCC t-shirt because they think the brand is cool, and there are people that will buy a WCC because when they see one it pushed all the right buttons inside them.

if he made a few porn movies, thats great. I dont think his image is exactly "Mr Clean" I didnt see him on the ballot for Gov. of CA :-). I am sure he could release some West Coast Chopper Porn and make another few million.

There are very few people that will ride a "show bike" from LA to Sturgis, just like most would not drive their exotic/clasic show car across the country to Monterey. It is just Discovery Channel production, I dont think a relativly unknown bike builder (at the time is was being fimed) would have ANY choice in how they portrayed him, or any say so in how they edited/produced the show.

For all I know (and care) his tatoos could be temporary ones, he may not even know how to ride a motorcycle, he could be a trust fund multi-millionaire with a MBA from Harvard, the only thing I know is that they put out an amazing product.

I heard Enzo did a few porn movies back in the day :-)

I saw this on the internet, so it must be true: "Jesse James" and WCC existed in the mind of Jesse James, long before he even built a F*cking thing. He was selling WCC stuff, when WCC was only a name. He is a good builder, but a MASTER at marketing. Kinda like Marilyn Manson(AKA Bryan Warner), he too was out promoting his Marilyn manson and the spooky kids stuff long before they'd even recorded a single song.

If you want more dirt on they guy or how "real" his show is, check out pirate4x4.com. Some of the people there were involved in his build on Monster garage and all had not very nice things to say.

Knowing that it was all staged kind of ruins it for me. Kind of goes against the quote in the show..."If it was easy, it wouldn't be so cool."

Ditto on the fakie ride to Sturgis. .. .. Fact is is I hear greg was a porn star prior to WCC. Anyway, that might help him sell bikes to the Cali crowd anyway.
But . .. I believe thats why the whole chopper reality series is goin to Indian larry and those NYC OCC dudes. They have been doin it a whole lot longer then Mr. james.

Friend of mine writes for a Harley magazine ."Jesse's" real name is Greg. The show that had him ride non-stop to Sturgis was BS. He would ride briefly for the shot then sit in the van complaining of the heat. Still his stuff sells well. More power to him if he suceeds selling his product and his image he wants to portray.

I've never been a huge fan of Bourget's bikes. He's got a killer shop, but the bikes are so-so.

Arlen Ness just moved his shop to Pleasanton (Dublin, actually) in CA, and it's not to far from my friend's house. Guess they have a pretty cool museum and showroom there. My friend's daughter babysits for the Ness grandkids, so he's got the inside scoop.

I would give my left nut to be able to metalwork like any of those guys. When I get a decent shop, the first things I am going to buy is a good welder and an english wheel, and just spend a ton of time making mistakes.

Bourget probably makes more money per bike than West Coast does, but most of their bike are limited production or semi custom bikes that can be made cheaper and more profitable. It does not mean that they are any less of a machine, but for the most part not one of a kind hand built unique work of art. The yaffe bike that I posted pictures below is a one of a kind, but most of his bikes are semi-custom. If anyone saw the discovery special on Yaffe, he was able to pull fenders and tanks of the shelf, unlike other companies.

Almost every custom bike company has either stayed small and proffitable, or gone out of business.

In my line of work, I have appraised and liquidated several of these companies over the last few years. It is only recently that some of these guys have become known (mainly through Discovery chanel) it will be interesting to see if any of them will be ably to take their businesses to the next level.

Orange County choppers are nice but not my style.

Nobody in the industry has the brand recognition that WCC has, at bike shows you see as many Maltise Crosses (wcc logo) on peoples shirts as you do Harley. go to their website, 8 weeks to ship you a tshirt...

I think WCC will become a more mass produced bike but still make some one offs for the big names. I think his clothing, accessories, wheels and bike part business will be HUGE.

I like the Bourget ones. It seemed like in that one show, his shop was much bigger, more technologically advanced, and cleaner.

Not saying that his bikes are better due to the above, but makes you think how much more $$ he has than JJ. There was also a short segment on this race boat he owned.

adam,
i just surfed over to ebay and there is exactly that: WCC parts put together somewhere else. :not interested. I want a genuine WCC/CFL and would like one built when it was WCC/CFL by Jesse and not the "new generation".

If my fiance was not sitting next to me telling me "Hell no," I would tell you that my price range was "what it would take".

I have not been able to find a WCC/CFL, either privately for sale or resale through a custom bike place and I have been looking for a couple of weeks straight.

Any suggestions???

I met Jesse in Montreal - his first Challenge race. He looked pretty nervous....anyway, I'd say his first race went down well. He didn't qualify last, he held his line, he didn't get passed/lapped by anyone, and didn't hit anyone/anything. Not too shabby....most on this board would have done alot worse.

I've been to WCC a couple of times - looks like Jesse doesn't do much building himself these days, what with film/TV taping, running the shop business, etc. He maintains a large staff who build the bikes now, but if you've watched the Discovery Channel films in the past, you'll see many familiar faces still working there, so...build quality should be the same as it ever was. I heard a rumor somewhere that the bulk (close to 90%) of Jesse's money is made in T-Shirt/paraphanalia sales during Bike shows/store visits/catalog sales/etc. His car/bike collection is immense.

Turns out one of Yaffe's employees used to work at the same place as a friend of mine. Week before last, the employee stopped by his old job site with the 'ultimate chopper build off' bike on his way back from the 100 year Harley shindig going on in Milwaukee. Anyhow, my buddy said the bike was really sharp, it lists for about $120K. As far as the flames which were sent out the exhaust, apparently that was done by passing gas through a nitrous atomizer over a spark plug (mounted in the tail pipe).

There was also another guy with him that had a Yaffe bike with a much lower price tag - still a really cool bike according to my friend.

Thats the bike that the Discovery Channel did a whole show on the building of last week. I think it was called the :The ultimate Chopper buildoff", or something like that. Good show. I recommend catching it if/when it comes on reruns. It was a great demonstration of the though, art, and mechanics that goes into a bike like that.

His bikes are some of my favorite designs out there. Organic, sleek, aggressive, and unique, but not over the top to the point of being tacky. Beautiful bike btw Adam :-) One of my best friends works for the Discovery Channel and has met him quite a few times and she says he's just as laid back and goofy as he is on his shows.

On a side note, while browsing eBay I came across this F360:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2431442966&category=6212
Jesse was shown driving his personal 360 at the end an episode of Monster Garage. He was doing burnouts and donuts and whatnot and I remember thinking how ugly it looked with the solid black wheels. Well the above car looks exactly like it and judging by the description it could very well be his.

He'll be racing again when the Ferrari Challenge goes to Texas on Sept.19th-21st. BTW, his racing suit is all red (same as all the other Challenge drivers). He's pretty smart at marketing the WCC logo - he recently sponsored an NHRA Top Fuel dragster. Nice to see an average guy hit it big...................Some of the bikes are just insane..........

It has a Merch 120" Powerplant, Baker 6speed transmission, Primo open belt drive, most other stuff is west coast choppers custom built.

No guages, no turn signals, no horn, 1 mirror and a brake light. A load of torque and raw power, pull the throttle and hang on.........

The handbuilt bikes they create these days reminds me of what Modena & Maranello must have been like back in the 50s & 60s with real artists banging out fenders with hammers. I dont ride a motorcycle cus they are too dangerous, I like a big hefty cage & harnesses around me when I get crazy.

But I really appreciate the workmanship & the beauty of these designs

I bought it from the person that ordered it, He waited 2 years, paid 80K and got what Jesse wanted not what he wanted, I bought it for considerably less as he needed to sell it fast.

The frame is a Dragon, and Willis is correct (good eye!) it is on their website listed as "Smooth Mama Dragon" they also used it in their catalog and on their poster. It was on the from page of American Iron magazine a few months ago.

This was being build when he filmed the discovery special and put it on hold while he built Shaq & Golbergs bikes, this was one of the last ones actualy built by Jesse

I have had it for about 9 months ago. It is an amazing machine.

Werner Pfister from Miller motors in CT told me he saw Jesse james driving at a 355 challenge race. First he saw Jesse's 355, Flat black with flames on it :-) Then he saw Jesse at the drivers meeting full of tatoos LOL
