I'm a finance major and will get my MBA when i'm finished as an undergrad. I decided on this path (business) for money. yeah, yeah, I know, "thats no way to choose a major" and "money dosent make you happy" but I think id be a lot less happy without it, and I think I could do pretty much anything I wanted to anyway with a degree in FINN and an MBA.

I've narrowed mine down to four. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Accounting or Buisness. I don't know what to do, so maybe I will just be a hobo for a few years. Any suggestions?

And most likely, either an MBA or MA in American Legal History, provided I don't either A) continue trying to do this law nonsense, or B) go into politics

How I chose this major? senior year of high school with 4 years Jr ROTC, wanting to be a 2nd Lt. in Viet Nam (young a stupid)...but one hot summer Saturday afternoon a fellow cadet's father, who was a Sgt with San Jose Police, set us up for a 'ride-along'and that was that: uniform, gun, Viet Nam and $90 a month or....uniform, gun, badge and $90+ a DAY - no brainer!!

School of hard knocks (well not all that hard actually).

High School diploma + US Air Force training = six figure salary today.

Please don't try this at home.

FWIW, Air Force training was in IT skills.

BS in aero engineering from Michigan
MS, PhD in mechanical from Rice
Currently a federal government rocket scientist

How did I choose what to do? Grandfather was an aviator (designed and built his own aircraft and set a few records along the way), was good at math/science, just seemed to fit. Ended up at NASA/JSC as a student at Michigan trying to get closer to my girlfriend/fiancee/future wife. Ended up sticking here.

I majored in Chemistry, got my bachelor's, master's and Ph. D. in chemistry. I switched to food science and became assistant prof., then became a very successful soccer coach and opened retails stores and other enterprises around town. Earning your degrees is great discipline which is a great prerequisite for success. My son was a chemical engineer, graduated later from law school and is not a corporate lawyer. I don't think chemical engineering has much to with law. Neither does chemistry with soccer. But applying yourself does have a lot to do with success.

I am currently a second year student at Bucknell University double majoring in economics and philosophy with a minor in german. After that, I plan on going to law school and then getting into corporate law. I was going to do my Ph.D in philosophy, but I was deterred because some people said it might hurt my career *shrug*

BS, MS in mechanical engineering at UVA. PhD in mechanical engineering at VPI.

Built a crude go cart out of an old Clinton lawnmower engine when I was 11 years old. Parents thought I should be an engineer. As my parents did not run their family as a democracy, I became an engineer. It worked out well for me.

Well, I was a 4th-year sophomore majoring in Anthropolgy at FSU when I switched to accounting...

My real major was trying to prove the theory that there ain't no such thing as having too much fun...

Those first accounting classes were interesting. I had long hair and didn't wear underwear.

I got hired by the IRS in Houston when I graduated, and I had a plan. I was gonna stay in Houston one year and then haul butt. That was almost 26 years ago <sigh>.

Started going to grad school at the Univ of Houston because traffic was so bad. Got an MBA and got talked into going for a PhD. Big mistake. I shoulda gone to law school. But if I had, I wouldn't be DrTax, would I?

Ever since then, I haven't been able to hold a job. Problem is that people ask me what I think, so I tell em. Maybe I should tell them what they want to hear instead.

All this started back in kindergarten. I was one of those kids who got bad marks in "Plays well with others..."

From a CPA in Texas who is trying to find this different drummer that everybody keeps talking about.

Marketing. McMurry College, Abilene, Texas.
When? Back in the stone ages.
We were still using the abacus as a calculator.

Did marketing research analysis with a major supermarket chain for a few year afterward. Then decided I liked cars better and got into sales in 1981. Life has been a journey.........

Mine was Physics.

Rutgers College had (probably still has) a great Physics dept. and although it kicked my a$$ I remember it was pretty fun. Of course my college major has nothing to do with my present job, except it made all my other subjects seem ridiculously easy.
