Nebula, One thing I have learned over the years and I know little about investing is this. If you hear that a certain segment is on the upswing the market-makers(institutional investors) have already solidified giant positions and it's tough for the individual investor to really hit a home run short term.

Information is the key, if you get it through traditional media you're behind the curve. You had the foresite to understand an economic principle regarding pawn shops in an economic downturn, went with your gut great call! This type of thinking will put you far ahead of the average investor. Good luck.

For several years now, I have followed the action on wall street daily on my computer. I trade futures, ES and NQ, and also swing trade the triple Q's and others. Anyone need advice or want to ask anything, I will gladly give my .02. However, remember, you get what you pay for...:-)

yes, QQQ's are UIT's. if you're looking for that type of exposure, they're pretty good b/c expenses are much lower than most index funds and you have the flexibility of a "regular" stock, as opposed to mutual funds.

your plan should be based on your time horizon. if you're trying to do some short-term trading, technicals typically are more important than fundamentals.

I just did a tiny tiny bit of reseach, and it looks like a Nasdaq 100 index....so essentially it is a fund consisting of the top 100 Nasdaq stocks, right?

I am the furthest thing away from a knowledgeable investor, so I apologize for the ignorance.

Robert - The performance of that stock is pretty interesting.

What exactly is it? I'm probably wrong, but it looks like some sort of tech index. Am I right?

I really like the fact that in 2000, it was at close to $150. Now, while that may have been doulbe it's real value as a result of hype, even if it's get's to half of that soon, that's be double it's current value.

Can you give me some info on QQQ?

Thanks a bunch!

I've got about 3k invested in the stock market. It's split, almost evenly, between 4 different stocks:

Schering-Plough
First Cash Financial Services
Isle of Capri
Intel

I like all four, but First Cash seems like it might be time to sell.

Essentially, First Cash is a huge chain of Pawn Shops. It seemed like a good buy while the economy was in the tanks. I assumed people would be using Pawn Shops more during times of a bad economy, and I was right.

But now, with the oncoming economic turn-around, is First Cash attractive?

What I'm thinking is that I oughtta sell it and reinvest into either Microsoft or HP. All the analysts say that the chip and computer business is in an upswing.

Should I do this?

Thanks!
