Rob, You have to go after the nest after dark. This way you make sure they are all in there.

Slightly off topic...

While living in San Diego when I was 8ish I was riding my bike and felt something crawling in my (red)hair. Put my hand up there to feel what it was and got stung. So, as I am riding my bike, I freak out and manged to crash head on into a brick mail box that was poorly made as my lil ass managed to break apart most of the bricks and sending me flying into the ground to cut my chin, 6 stiches, and busting one of my teeth, that was already fake.

Of course I am allergic to bees. So, my hand was swolled, chin cut up and tooth slightly broken. And my parents were on Vacation back east, and school photos were the following week. :-):-):-):-)

Ok, update.

I was out of town the past weekend, so I put Jennie in charge. Actually, she put herself in charge as she did with our electrical system, plumbing, water heater, gas lines, and other stuff.

Turns out they were maybe Yellow Jackets. They had a nest under the bottom step of our porch and everytime you would step I guess they got moody. She got stund twice over the weekend bombing their nest and spot spraying when the workers returned. Poor girl, her left arm is swollen twice as big. She finally killed enough to remove the step and there was a huge nest in there. The queen was dead. I swore they were big ass bees, but the queen was a yellow jacket, I just haven't seen the workers up close. Maybe this is a super breed African Killer Beejacket.

Rob,

I think there are people like exterminators you can call for that. Killer Bees can't kill you unless you are stung by hundreds of them.
If that doesn't work follow DES's Idea.

We've been suffering from yellowjackets, too. They are everywhere. I've stirred up 2 ground nests in my yard while doing yard work.

Some local redneck suggested a trap for them which we tried and it is working great. We put some lunch meat (turkey, in our case) in one of those commercial traps and poured in some apple juice (but I'm told Coke, etc. will work). They can't resist the stuff. There must be several hundred dead in there now. The trap had been out all summer with the commercial bait they supply with it and it had no effect. Use the "local remedy" and voila, they're dying in record numbers.

Rob..I have yellow jackets up the ass where I live (DES...You need not to comment on that!). Three weeks ago, I was leaf blowing near a granite boulder in my yard. I stirred up a ground nest. They came after me and I started running into my garage, stinging all the way. My leg got nailed about ten times. While sitting in my garage in pain, there were three in my shirt I did not know about that nailed me in the back!...I feel your pain!

Anyone know much about Killer Bees? I've seen a couple Discovery type shows, but now I'm personally impacted.

About 6 weeks ago I got stung for the first time at my house. I wasn't even close to anything else or where I would of disturbed a nest. These things are aggressive as hell, they come looking for you and just sting for no reason. The stings really you up. I've been stung by a wasp or two and you just get a little nickel sized mark. These bees make about a 5 by 9 inch area turn red, swell, and then it feels like a bruise for about a week. For a small area around the actual sting the tissue dies and turns white.

I was stung again about 4 weeks ago and then the past week there have been more and more of them. Got stung a week ago and just got stung in the ankle this morning. This time I saw like 5 swarming around my ankle, but only one got me.

These are big ass, aggressive, SOB bees. I'm sick and tired of getting stung. You can't avoid them, they come and find you. All the stings have happened in the morning.

Last thing I would want is letting thier numbers grow and grow and then have a hundred attack me. One bite messes me up, I'm sure a few dozen would really make for a bad day.

I really don't know where they're coming from, it may be under the house or porch. Can you bomb large areas or do you need to pinpoint them. Do pest control companies handle bees?
