Jerry usually I would agree with that but for a dining room system that maybe is just going to be used for backgroud sound and doesn't want to take up alot of space the bose wave might be A choice (the best maybe not) but somewhat cheap and a good sound that you are going to get out of a little cd player

I wouldn't have a Bose shoved up my ass. Overpriced and mediocre sound, IMO.

Ronny, 2 years ago, I picked up the perennial winner of Mini-systems for dirt cheap. (it has scored highest several years in a row in several audio shoot-outs).

As mentioned, scored 2 UK-built Pioneer XC-L5 Units sans speakers a couple of years ago on ubid.com for $89 each, and 2 sets of PolkAudio R10's for $79 a pair at Circuit City (I'm a buy-speakers-separate-from-unit kinda guy). Outlay, sans tax = $168 a system.

You can buy the highly recommended system with Pioneer's correctly mated S-L5V speakers for 250-355 US$ (151 - 215 GBP) audioreview
(To add confusion, as a system it is properly called: Pioneer Lifeplus NS-5 CD Shelf System)

DealtimeUK's full range of mini-systems

Pat: I would appreciate it if you stopped referring to me as "Matt"-thanks. Again, if you'll check the latest lemus topics you'll see the names lemus is posting under.

Get yourself one of those Bose wave systems for 499. Small and good sounding and the remote is RF instead of IF

I'm currently in the market for a reasonably priced single CD player ( reasonable I mean less than $600 )Any suggestions ?

Am I better getting a package, or buying the speakers seperatly ? It will only be used in the dining room, so nothing too fancy needed.

Grateful for any suggestions / reccommendations.

Thanks
Ronny
